Pulling out of the TWGS biz. The ISP has all the info regarding the problems so they'll act according to their policies. DoS is something they have been experiencing system wide. I've had alot of help trying to keep this thing going, however I can't provide a stable Server for players. Managing a remote Server is difficult at best, and I truly appreciate everyone's assistance. I've given Thrawn my Dupe checker script which should be tested alot more before it's completely trusted.. but it is working.... feel free to ask him for a copy. ciao |

You should give Corenetwork.net a chance. no contract, all month to month. If not thanks for a good try. Helix |

Sorry to hear of your issues. Great piece of work you sent us. Already had a few ideas for it once I ran my tests. I have added a feature that allows the Sysop to enter in the number of games they host from the menu. Since we don't run 25 games fully any longer, I wanted to shrink down the game menu display and not have A-Z displaying. If they host 5 games, letters A-E display only; if they host 25, letters A-Z display (except letter Q of course). I like having that feature rather than trying to explain how to change and where to display the number of games you want. The next feature I am working on is having the results written to file. This way a Sysop has a hard copy rather than just a display in the terminal window. A simple task I'll have done by end of day. The nice thing about this script is I can run it disconnected, meaning TWXProxy does not need to connect to the TWGS. All I need to do is tell it where my TWGS is installed, and give the path to the game for each letter. I'll be adding a tutorial for this script, both available on our site, as well as in the script itself for those that need it. The final stage will be the dealing with dupe accounts, i.e. setting all assets rogue, either deleting the dupes or placing them in a sector where they can't move. I'm not too sure what the best method is yet, but Daala and I have a few ideas. Of course we are open to suggestions for ideas. Once tests are finalized and we're satisfied of no issues, I'll be releasing online for other Sysops to run on their own sites. |

You don't actually need to specify a games list, just specify an exclusion list. You can just loop thru all games, 0 thru 9, A thru Z, and put an X second (like 3 second) timeout. If it hits A and doesn't go any further in 3 seconds then the game doesn't exist, same for B, C, D, etc. Then just specify an exclusion list in the form of a single string, eg: "f h 1 z" or whatever. And lone, it's prolly just that network. I've never had any problems, and a lot of ppl on here run remote servers and don't either. Odds on, with the kind of pricing they have, they're attracting negative attention. I've had that problem on low cost hosts before, where most of our mailers got blacklisted for spam because some moron was sending out junk. What, exactly, are your logs saying? What seems to be the problem? Is it more RDC stuff? |
