Anyone ever come home to their computer to find reconnect (such as mombot) trying to relog into game with no success? then you find out that the server is up and working?? Sometimes I see that after a server is down for an extended period of time and mombot (or something else) trys to reconnect 100's of times I will get the message that I cannot connect because then I am "out of sockets". I can either close zoc/twx or restart computer and everything is fine. What causes this? |

easy fix. take off side of case, throw a socket set in there and close it back up. for good measure you may want to throw a ratchet in there too |

There is a problem with the server's configuration or server's system you are trying to connect too. The server's system site has a maximum of N connections on the TCP/IP layer (Windows 9x: N=100). The maximum number of connections is easily reached when 20 users log in to the site and each user uses about 4 connections. It could be that the connections are not closed right after the user quits. If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's only because I had my response written for me at: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/500- ... s-f23.html |

How can rebooting the client overcome this issue. Rebooting works for me too) I can be logged into one server but another server wont connect. Reboot and... connects fine. I'll read the link now. heh |

I thought the problem was on MY end.. something to do with my twx/zoc/system session. In the usual case I will stop mombot auto relog.. and try manualy connecting and I will get the same out of sockets error. So in most cases I will have to restart twx/zoc and it will connect.. sometimes if I have multiple twx sessions running I will have to close them all to be able to reconnect (even if Im still connected to 1 server and unable to connect to the server with my socket error) ..other times I will have to reboot my whole system and I connect fine afterwards. |

Got the error again.. this is what I was trying to explain the 1st time.. "An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full." (from ZOC) Previous to getting this error.. -A server I was connected to went down -relog was running (connected..connection failure - connected connection failure..etc..etc) I then tried to connect to a different server.. and obtained the above error. It is not server specific. I got the same error when trying to connect to any server. Also, when trying to start up firefox.. the page would not load (no error messages from firefox though.. just a blank page) I then terminated the twx session that was attempting the relog. Afterwards.. everything returned to normal. |
