TW awards, will they ever happen again? Seems it could be a good thing for whats left of the players.

its just a popularity contest.

1. best game? what - we had one tournament this year?
2. best corp? are there any permacorps out there anymore?
3. best scripting language? who scripts in zoc anymore (besides me)?
4. best helper? there's only twx and swath and half the players use both...
5. best server? this just gives sage another chance to say "best server 2008"

i know there are a ton other categories but with the dwindling of players and servers, the proliferation of categories just makes each category more meaningless.

i agree that too many categories screw up the tw awards....It's always been a popularity contest thru out the years..not sure it could be any different even under the best of circumstances. IF you guys do have a TW Awards this year...I would suggest the categories not be so numerous and that the categories have qualifications...You can't name nominate people or places for categories they don't Qualify for.... Also nominate and vote for one person to Run it.....Like ..Big D or someone simular.

BTW UTW has held 2 tournamnets since jan 08(perfectly i might add) Those wouldnt be for the tw awards in 07.

re:sage - yeah i'm not saying we should cheat him out of a title he deserves... i guess its just that i remember when there were several servers that could have won the award in any given year. sure there have been years where one server obviously dominated, e.g. hardcoded, stardock. i don't play much at utw because my ping sucks there... so it wouldn't get my vote - not that it doesn't deserve it. sage really stays on top of things.

I'll have to agree that everytime we try something like this it does nothing but start another flame war. Like SG said tho, IF it's ever done again, keep the awards down to a minimum.
Most improved player, best corp, best server, best website things like that. Why does anyone need to be known as best smack talker, most podded, worst killer, etc... That is asking for arguements. I also think that anyone that has won that catagory the previous year should have to skip a year to be nominated for that catagory again.
Now whether this actually comes about or not is really up to the players. They are the ones that should decide.

They are fun and give us somthing else to fight about? We could make up new categories. :)

No TW players should never have the TW awards again. It’s just a bad idea...

Have a tournament instead it will be much much more fun trust me. :wink:
