Hey there everybody I just wanted to get a feel of people's opinions about double-crosses (having recently been a victim myself) Now I've been playing trade wars since the BBS days and not only have I myself never been double-crossed but I have never seen it happen to anybody else. I think that most people would consider this a cowardly and just plain wrong thing to do, ( I mean if you can't win head to head maybe you should think about re-working your strategies) Also, it just plain defeats the purpose of the game (I think anyway) for me trade wars is about the strategy and meeting new people and having fun while playing. However, maybe I am just naive. So I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this and see if it has happened to anyone else. Thank you in advance to anyone who replies.

it happened to me once... i called my TW friends in and we kicked his butt... then his dupes butts... BackStabbing gets u nuthin in this game but a bad Rep... and some of us that have been around a while will team up and come in and kick their butt... thing is no one will corp with a backStabber, so they have to play solo... can't win that way...

Well it depends if you were corped or not. If you weren't corped and it was just a "truce" setup between the 2 of you... eh, that happens. If you were corped and they broke corp, stole stuff from you and then turned on ya... that's just scuzzy. It's the easiest way to earn a bad reputation and will make it hard to find good corpies in the future.

in my experience this was much more common back in the bbs days.. now only a couple people do it, trashy players and usually on trashy boards no one wants to play anyway. of course there is always the trashy player on good servers *cough*corporate killer
the best way to deal with this guy is to spread his name around so no one will want to corp with him anymore

Well we were corped at the time. S/he joined when I was not on-line (I was playing with 2 other people on my corp) and when I logged in.. well needless to say we had nothing left. We were playing against a 5 member corp and had gotten the upper-hand (I was dropping planets on their heads anytime the opportunity presented itself they were PISSED at me) so I guess there must have been some wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. We thought we could use another member since it was a death limit game. I don't know I was enjoying the game and it just plain sucks that they would stoop to these kind of tactics. As far as getting my TW buddies to help out I just started playing again and besides the 2 I was playing with I don't really know anyone else (I had actually just met them as well). I hate to think that I shouldn't trust anyone (it's nice to meet new people to play with) so I am happy to hear that this isn't common, maybe I'll try a new game somewhere else.
Thanks again

Fortunately it isn't common. But you may need to tell others not to give out corp info to people you haven't talked to. I CEO occasionally and anything I'm working with new players I always change the corp password after they join... that way I'm the only one who knows it.
But as you find other corpies and play a while longer you won't need to worry about it.

NO everyone is like that.
I would avoit the person and if they are in a game you are in, make a point of telling everyone in the game, then you can all hunt him down.
And try and corp with people you know will not screw with you. Singularity, Zark and Hiro are great guys who will help out new people.
But stay away from that Wildstar guy... LOL

Best to stick with known players. See if they have a opening on there corp, or fill in a couple of games, for someone. you would be amazed how much you could learn from players like that.

I've done it before. Just once, but I found it hilarious. There was this guy named dagwood who was holding me out of another game we were in by a Fed blockade, So I went into another game he was playing as an alias and gained his trust enough that he let me join his corp, which was ruling the universe at the time.
He logged out and I took all his stuff and made it mine and left him a message saying if he let me back into the other game he could have his stuff back and I would cby .
All's fair in war!
