One of the craziest things I've ever seen.  Perhaps there's a logical explanation that I don't see . . .
Horsing around in an empty game, only on online, only one alive except for some dude in a pod who is offline . . .
Cashing and got hit by a cannon.  I go back to look at the planet that did it, and it's gone, hence, a pdrop.  Take a look at the folllowing info - the event itself followed by a holoscan followed by a copy of Who's online . . .
And DO tell, how this could possibly happen. . ..

Computer command [TL=00:00:00]:[10583] (?=Help)? Q
<Computer deactivated>
Command [TL=00:00:00]:[10583] (?=Help)? : 6423
<Move>
Warping to Sector 6423
The Quasar Cannon on . locks on you and fires!
Quasar Blast!
The console reports damages of 166666 battle points!
Life Support knocked out!  Energy generation shut down!
You rush to an escape pod and abandon ship...
Your Boss's Limo has been destroyed!
Your trusty Escape Pod is functioning normally.
For getting blown up you LOSE 1006 experience point(s).
Sector 6423 will now be avoided in future navigation calculations.

holy cow is that a dome scratcher!!
I guess I've been in games where the 'who's online' has been disabled, to only show corp members.  My only feeble explanation...

The simplest answer is always best.

That is weird. Even if another player was online he could not pdrop in 6423 due to the Ferrengi figs. A glitch in the data files is the only way I could even guess it could happen, but then why wouldn't the planet show up. I know there is a command to edit flags on a planet in T-Edit although I don't know what those flags are. It would be interesting to holo and then go back into that sector to see what happens. I am wondering if one of the "flags" could be a "cloaked planet" setting that somehow got messed up.

After the fact I went back and mac'ed out the sect figs, no cloaked planet there or I would have been hit by a cannon again . . .
Not being a techie of any sort, my only conclusion is not good . . .

Since I don't know that edit, how many figs and shields did your ship carry? Just wondering if it might be 150k and 16k and if so the cannon blast was pretty precise.

As I'm sure many of you know, there is a cloaking flag for planets but it's grayed out and un-selectable.

I'm afraid I didn't know you could turn off the "Who's Online" function. In this case it looks a lot like a planet was moved in and then out with the editor. If there's another explanation, I can't imagine what it is.

Well another option would be the roaming planet script I sometimes use in my games.  It moves a planet randomly between sectors via t-edit by just putting another randome sector in the planets location option.  This might create just such a scenerio.

I played this edit previously and there were no roaming planets, nor had there been any in this bang thus far that I have seen.  Would a roaming planet pod me and then be gone a few seconds later??  And would a roaming planet be sitting on top of alien figs then disappear??

Yes, depending on how the sysop set up the random times
_bob_ wrote:

Yes, remember it's a t-edit script, but basic, it just edits the sector a planet is in, not taking account if there are figs there, or even a base there.  It can just appear in your base, blast you a couple, then move on.

Laff, who knows.  We'll just pretend like there is a surprise roaming planet out there that never showed up in the previous game or the previous days of the current game.  It must be a ghost planet because I owned all the cits in the game previous to this, too.
