I say this because I have been in several games in the last couple of months that I assume are "normal" only to find out later that they ain't.
I know you sysops want to host the next "sorry for this reference but it fits. BG where you have how should I say this....
+60 people online 24-7 where everyone goes to play. "
Or something like that. A IMHO a popular server doesn't need a large # of players it needs a pool of players that want to burn off the work atmosphere that most of us are accustomed to.
0We want to waste time. And IMHO that is what 90 percent of us want to do. Now there is NOTHING WRONG what this. I want to inform sysops that their are other options you should check.
If I had wanted to waste my time on your server you'd better make it worth my while and forget other trangressions you should let the users communicate to what they want.
I'm sorry I got involved in a no death game and am pissed.
Our strategy now has to be changed.
Further complicating the fact is that I have people that wont play this edit because of the very fact that it is "abbey normal" I fail, because I want to finish this game and don't care about whether I win or lose I want to bend the rules to make a game out of it.
That last paragraph came out wrong. I want to win. but If I had tested that death delay was off I would have adjusted my strategy and locked game down. Instead I have to work at it and am pissed about it.
Yea call me a whiner call me whatever you want to. I have thick skin and remember the first rule of thei nternet. EVERYTHING YOU EVER POST CAN COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU.

Feel free to fork out the money to run your own server maniac.
That way we can whine about you and your games.

Well, cerne and I think that Maniac is just whining about TWGS sysops, and Cerne and I were telling him to knock it off, as sysops are the only ones paying for Maniac's pleasure.
As soon has he forks over some cash to a sysop, then he can have the right to complain about that server.
I don't know what server he's ranting about, and I don't much care. It's the feeling of entitlement that rankles me.

So what would be the point in a sysOp paying for the TWGS and providing the computer to run it on if no one shows up? I have a registered TWGS and the only ones that play on it are those that I invite. Sure not 60+ players -- hmmm make that 60+ people.
The no death delay w/o a death limit is the worst of all possible settings - esp with any decent amount of startup cash/figs. One fedsafe blue and one player running a cby cashing/figging script - minimal danger and maximum cash. It doesn't take much of "player" to take advantage of this flaw. If no one else posts a script to do this, I will. I think it is on par with a server kill script (yes, I have one that will drag a server down very easily - and no I won't post it or say how it is done).

Laff, server kill is easy... but IMO that's a different kind of "ick" than a cby casher. Atleast with a cby casher other people can still play (until you kill them).

I'm curious, Why would you even make a server kill script?

Because it can be done? I don't have a "server kill script" so much as afew macros that "can eat the heck out of a server's CPU in no time flat." Stumbled upon them by accident, altho you can find out how to do it if you search the forums... I've posted about it before in the hopes that maybe JP would see it and fix the bug. There are just some commands in TW that take up a lot more CPU time than others...

Heh... dude. Shield riding is so easy to fix. Fig prompt riding is a different issue... But shields, trivial. You can always get someone off your shields.
The bug(s) that I know about won't shut the server down completely, it just lags it all to heck. CPU usage spikes thru the roof.

Well I guess I pissed someone off here with my posts.
For that I apologize. I was *****ing about a no death delay setting, which I suppose Oso and Cern would happily keep their mouths shut when I get #SD# by them and then turn around and log right back on.
Sorry Oso and Cern I was not getting down on sysops, was not trying to make it sound like I deserve anything. But as Wolfen has said NO death delay unless announced prior to bang is about as bad as you can get. And how can a new player find this out only way I can think of would be to dupe your character to cby and see if you can get back in but then you've already broken another commandment.
Was just trying to remind sysops to double check their settings was all.
Sorry if I offended anyone that was not my intent. If you want me start I humbly ask for assistance from SG.

The script I have was created to fix a problem and the server kill (extreme lag as the cpu is pretty close to maxed) was a by-product. As Sing said, there are commands that when macro'd in a script eat the CPU up.
