Hello all, my name is Conejo and I have just from a stroke of luck found this place. I have been searching for quite some time for a still-active Trade Wars group. Personally, I have never played it, but my father played it extensively and I grew to enjoy the game by proxy. I have looked high and low for a still-active Trade Wars group, because it is an older game and text-based multiplayer games are showing their age as my peers want more and more explosions and quests.

I am not sure if I will enjoy playing Trade Wars, but I would surely like to give it a try. I am not sure if my father (who still is a gamer) will follow me here in time to play as well, but I figured I would say hello to you all and congratulate you on being that Trade Wars group I knew was still out here.
I am currently enrolled in a University so it is difficult for me to find time always, thusly I will not be jumping into a game too quickly, I simply wanted to say that I am here and I would like to look into getting into a game with you all sometime soon.

Where must I go to get into a game should I be so inclined?

Thanks and I hope to talk to you all soon!

On behalf of all Sysops and players welcome to the group, there are many servers out there and forums for some as well, this forum has links to quite a few of them, as well as the websites too.

If you need to find more servers here is a link to the TWGS servers out there that have listed themselves with the site, the site is TheStardock, and here is the link to the TWGS Search.
http://www.thestardock.com/twgssearch/allservers.php

Again welcome to the game, hope you find one you like, remember these games are fast paced at times and you can get killed easy as well, but don't get discouraged, keep at it and you should get better, also one word of advice is: Find a corp to play with to help you learn, or ask someone that has played a while to help you.

We have members at all stages here, from total beginners to expert to returning players relearning the game cause they been away that long.

I second what V said...

As a text-based game it has the capacity to be much faster paced than other graphial games.

I strongly advise going thru the sig files of people in the forums, many of us put downloads, tutorials and other resources up for others to use.

For now just find a quiet game w/o a lot of players and get familiar with the menus and concepts of the game. From there, if you play more, talk w/ people you meet in games and swap information... email addresses, ICQ numbers, etc. This'll give you a small list of people you can learn from.

Keep your chin up, sometimes this game can be very challenging. Don't give up the first time you get podded...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, as I said earlier I am heavily engrossed in school and cant find too much time to play, but look forward to getting my hands dirty soon and give a go at it.

I know that its a text-based game, and from what I could remember from my father's talks on it, once things got going it was a whirlwind of action each day, so I dont expect to be all that good at the game but I do expect to get my tail kicked quite a few times before I learn the ropes.

My father played under several names, none of which I can recall at the time. They were normally based off of Star Wars, and I do know that he once had an Interdictor Cruiser named "Psychotic Epsiode" haha. He played TWs with a bunch of his buddies from work, and I remember watching him take his turns and him talking about either getting killed or doing some killing
