I notice you have a bunch of Hall of Fame Categories and I understand what you're trying to do with that. You want to recognize people who have made a significant contribution in a specific area who wouldn't otherwise be recognized. However, you mind want to consider having a generic "Hall of Fame" category, considering it is one of the few traditional categories out there. If we were to go by the current categories for Hall of Fame, John Pritchett, Gary Martin, and Rave would never have made it into the Hall of Fame, even though they deserved it. Also, by opening up the Hall of Fame category, it lessens the achievement of those who have made it in. Just a suggestion from an old trader. |

As a side note, this year should be the 10th annual awards, unless you're wiping last year's 9th annual awards from the record books. |

****, look at kemp go. Honestly, I agree with the hall of fame suggestions he has made, yet I think it is too late to change then this year. Yet another thought for next november(which is when I think these awards should be brought up and dealt with). |

I dont think its too late. Consolidate it into one category. List who is already in the HOF so they dont get nominated again and make a rule that this person must be retired if that is the tradition. Maybe post a little blurb about the person because many of the new players might not know who these people are. |

I agree with K3. The Hall of Fame category has been non political and it would be a pity to "dilute" it. |

If you dilute that award for even one year then it cheapens it for everyone who has ever won it. Even the person that really deserves to get in this year wont get the prestige that they deserve because this will just be looked at as the year they let "anyone" in. Why not just merge all the HOF threads into one? I dont see any reason to deviate from tradition if it has worked for this many years. |

All well and good Fork Harley et al.Your reasoning is sound and I agree with you.The catagories were posted for comment some time ago. This should have been brought up then. Complaining after the horse is out of the barn doesnt accomplish much tho. I believe the Nomination Posts are being run through an Ip checker and Vulcan will not touch them at this point. But you could try and send him an Icq or Pm directly if you feel strongly about the issue. I suspect his answer tho. Read Silence's post above. Perhaps next year a commitee of traders who are committed to the awards will want to deal with it ahead of time instead of leaving it up to those who already do more than their share. |

Excuse me, but i feel i must say something on this. First thank you K3, that is a great idea and it will be implemented the next time we hold the awards, expect them for 2007 by the 1st week in December. Now as for the diluting of the awards value. In the real world, there exists the Halls of Fame for, Football, Baseball, Basketball, Nascar........ so, by comparison we have Trader,Scripter,Script,Sysop,Admin...... if the logic for the limiting of twars Hall of fame inductees where to be applied in the real world then we would have to merge all the aforementioned halls of fame and only nominate 1 athlete to the hall of fame a yr? that makes no sense as just in football alone there are quarterbacks, wide receivers, line backers, coaches,......., and even sports announcers who get nominated and inducted yearly. And i am sure that this does not lessen the value of the recognition of these inductees. Sorry but i don't see the validity of so drastically limiting the numbers of inductees in a text based game. |

Am I allowed to reply here or am I expected to do it in SMACK? Edit: Nevermind, I'll do it at twgs.org |

Are you trying to tell me that the Football Hall of Fame inducts a quarterback, a linebacker, a center, an announcer, a coach, a waterboy, a cheerleader each year? NO! And I don't think anyone here suggested we should merge WOW, TradeWars, EVE.......into one Hall of Fame nominee. That is what would equate to your NASCAR, BASEBALL, etc example. maggie |

You're right maggie, but why was this not brought up at the point when the negative categories were removed? It's a little late now, in my honest opinion. |
