The new TWT is not TW classic. It has it's own interface and is not supposed to be friendly to scripters. There is a seperate website for it entirely. Altho I contend that if it does get built there will naturally be a competitive scripting language that develops. As for playing it? Dunno. I'll try it out, if I don't think it's challenging enough I'll just stick with regular TW. My only concern is it'll draw away more players than it brings in... limiting the already tiny player pool. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Only time will tell. This all assumes it goes forward as planned. Game deals like this are often tenuous at best. |

See My thing with it is they ask Alot of questions about Monthly subscriptions. I don't want a monthly subsciption. I play BECAUSE it's free. and we all have alot of fun with it. now fi they want to limit a few ( few means 2-3) items in the free version and give full in a subscription kind of thing that fine. but all in all it should be free. |

I answered the survey but I doubt I would play a graphical version of TW2002. I play now BECAUSE of the present interface. While I have paid for my helper, paid for a TWGS license, I doubt I would pay to play (questions about paying to play seemed a big part of the survey) C |

The main reason I play TradeWars isn't so much the game itself, but because I can write my own scripts and go against others that do that same. TradeWars is the vehicle, so to speak, and the scripts that I write the creative element - and the true challenge to me. I could really care less if I "win" a game. Yes, I said the challenge is going against other scripters (or people who use those scripts), but "winning" is not important - seeing how my scripts stackup and thinking of new methods (new to me) of doing something is. I have been podded/SD by one player about 20 times to my hitting him twice. The challenge is podding/SDing him using scripts I write, and so far I have failed miserably. This player's game knowledge if far above mine as is his scripting ability, but I am closing the gap I think. Now would I play a game that takes scripting out of the picture - the answer is no. Playing a "game-in-a-box" where true creativity of the player is dictated by the interface/game developer to such a great extent is pointless. I view the situation much like truce games - a waste of time. |

I like FREE tradewars. If the subscription (as said earlier) would unlock a few features, I might pay once in a while in a hot game, but for the most part I'll play the free versions. If it goes subscription only, I'll prolly move on to other games, or continue to host and play free games in the current versions. I'm interested in scripting, but if this game is going to dry up, I'm not sure it's worth the effort of learning, but I will prolly do it anyway I wish we had a larger player base, and I also fear it getting smaller as other move on to the graphical version they (may be) willing to pay for. |

Meh. Paying for TW is like paying for sex. Makes me wonder what kind of loser would do it. |

The new TWT will have the main server that will be a pay server for the tournament and other things, and there will be free server shards to play on but the stuff don't carry over from game to game from them, the main pay server your stats will carry over to the other games on the server. |

So a guy with a pay subscription can come into a game with better stats than I guy starting the game from scratch with no subscription? Sounds like a big turn off to newbies. |

Vulcan does not mean cash, ship, or planets. he means the points earned for there play in other games will carry forward to the next game, these points do not effect the game they mearly reflect that specific players rank in the grand scheme of the tradewars universe. A way to truly know whos the best at what they do. |
