Hello there! I was a casual player back in the early 90's on bbs'!

I was wondering if someone could create a game that I'd really like to play in? I'd really be interested in a game that was 5000 sectors (or even 2,500), 1000 turns (or 750), "classic" style, and limited to 1 man corps! (classic style meaning stock ships/names/planets, and of course ferrengi).

Why? I just think it would be fun, and aimed at the more "casual" player like myself. I see all these games with 20,000 sectors and unlimited turns, and I know that I would just get blown out of the water. Also, 1 man corps means that people can't gang up on you and such, and I like that it makes it a "every man for himself" kind of game.

Would it be fun? I think it would, and hope others would as well! Is there anybody that would create such a game? I'd be very happy! :)

(sorry if this is wrong place to put this, I didn't know where else it would go?)

There are games like this, look for "top gun" or solo turn games. I've played in a handful of them.

A popular place to post and look for new game bangs.

As for game style... as you get more into today's play you'll find a whole level of things that can be done with corp play that can't be done with solo play. Personally I find corp play more fun than solo play as every player can specialize in what they enjoy, allowing you to divide up the tasks. A solo game puts a lot more emphasis on the alignment of the individual player whereas corp play puts more emphasis on strategy.

The only trick there is finding people to corp with, fortunately there are several great games coming up soon... a draft, a byoc (bring your own corp) mix and SG's HHT. BYOC and HHT are still accepting registrations. It's a good way to toss yourself into the frey.

As a player just returning, you might want to corp as Sing stated. You will learn more and faster by corping with other players - if you find the right people to corp with.

I prefer solo games myself but that is due to time constraints - can't fully support a corp and being a bot player is pretty lame. I have to disagree with Sing on the corp play putting more emphasis on strategy as alignment is a part of game strategy. Everything a solo or corp does should have a purpose or you are wasting turns - speed is life, turns are cash. Solo games are difficult due to having to do everything yourself, and not relying on saveme when gridding screw up, you die, no backup.

Anyway, welcome back and good luck - and remember, you will be podded / #Ship Destroyed# . ;)

Thrawn is rebanging a TW Classic 5k sectors, 5k turns on 09/10/06 at outpost-4.com. (5k turns to me is a little high, but I figure I'll find SOME way of using all those turns ;) ).

I'm also a returning player from "Back in the day" and am a fan of the more classic games. Its a few more turns than expected, but it still looks like its going to be fun.

Also, I was able to find a 5k sectors, 1k turns classic game that I've been playing for a week and a half after someone sent me this link:

I've noticed that no one seems to play the games that have less than 1200 turns.

I wouldn't say NO ONE plays less than 1200 turn games, there are a bunch of us that DO NOT play high or unlimited turn games, aren't there guys and gals. ;)

I can make the TW Classic a 1k turn per day if you wish. It's no trouble.

Hey, I'm totally game for either way. I like the lower turn games because I don't spend all day on TW... Then again sometimes I have no turns but plenty of plans, ambition and spare time.

I guess somewhere between 1200 and 2400 is the perfect "Zone" for me. :)

Do you ever take votes from the players of a game before its rebanged or anything to see what kind of changes they would make? I wouldn't want all the players who plan on playing the next game with the same settings to not want to play or something. I look forward to actually getting to play against other people!

The only reason why I say that is because I have noticed that the smaller turn games have fewer traders.Outpost-4 games A and C are the most active games i've seen with "Normal" ship/planet settings. I play game P on Vulcans, the 5k/1.2k Stock game, and its pretty much just me against one other guy. Yet there are usually quite a few people playing either the edited or high-turn/unlimited games there.

I'll check out the edited games too, eventually, but I wanna practice first! >:)

Well I will take your ideas into account and set up some polls for the next round of rebangs. In the meantime, I'll set the TW Classic to 1600 turns per day.

All the other games had been full, but eventually players dropped out or hit the 30 days deletion period. I set the site up to have players notify us of a rebabg, but now we are going back to a schedule based on game activity. Meaning if a game is empty for over 2 weeks then we rebang it.

I have several low turn stock games. From 5k sectors / 2k turns to 1k sectors / 500 turns. All stock.
