Hello everyone,

I'm new around here, so sorry if this is in the wrong spot? As an aside, I used to be a casual player back in the 90's, just found TW again, and very happy! :)

So I started up playing a game, it has 1000 turns. I played my turns yesterday (Thursday morning around 3am or so). I log back into the game today after midnight (so it is now friday morning). When I logged in, it said "you recover 346 of your turns" (don't quote me on exact number, but it was in the mid 300's). So... uhm.. what the heck? I thought I would get my full 1000 turns on the new day? It is the new day, right? So I check the "V" option, and it says it 9pm. So the server must be on the west coast? So I waited untill after 3am and logged back on. The "V" option says it is time 00:30:00 (again, don't quote me, but it clearly shows it's the new day). I check something, and then it says "you regain 46 of your turns". So now I'm sitting just over 400 turns in the game. What the heck??? Anybody know why I'm not getting the full 1000 turns after midnight?

I'm really confused, so sorry if this doesn't make any sense!

Welcome back.

Turns recover hourly now instead of daily. So a 1000 turn game recovers 41.66 turns per hour. Sometimes this'll be 41, sometimes it'll be 42. If you're out for 6 hours then you regen 250 turns, etc.

Quite a few things have changed since the olden days. May take some getting used to.

Thanks for the reply. Wow, that is pretty wierd.

Ok, so even with that info, say that I logged off 22 hours ago. Shouldn't I have something like 900 turns than? (22 x 41 = 902)

So if I play from 3am untill 4am. The next day at 3am I should have recovered almost all of my turns, yes?

Provided you haven't been hit with a photon missile, yes.

22/24 = .916667

.916667 * 1000 = 917 turns

You should have around 917 turns after 22 hours.

In your 3am to 4am scenerio, 4am to 3am is 23 hours. 958 turns or so plus whatever you had when you logged off.

Now enters the case of a turn bank. In general, games don't allow you to have more turns than the maximum daily turns. For instance if the daily turns is 1200, then you can't have over 1200. This means that you will regenerate up to that limit and no more. So if you had 800 turns when you logged off and were gone all day you'd still only regen 400 turns (up to the 1200 limit).

To counter this limit the sysop can enable a "turn bank" where your turn limit can increase past the daily limit. You still only regenerate the regular number of turns per hour, but rather than stopping at the daily limit you would stop at whatever the sysop has defined. Usually this is defined in terms of "days" ... ie: a 3-day turn bank of 1200 turns per day would allow you to max out at 3600 turns and would regenerate 50 turns per hour until that happened.
