Hey gang,

I am trying to figure out a way to shut off that annoying beep that occurs every time you get busted for stealing. Nothing is more annoying than trying to go to sleep at night with world SSM running and hearing.....beep........beep......every 20-80 seconds.

I have tried turning off all my coms, etc. and even checked a bit into the ZOC tools.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,
Underpants Man

P.S. No Myth, you cant leave forever.......

I removed it from zoc, and it should be as follows: Options Tab -> Program settings -> Printer/Sounds -> Remote Beep, delete that file. I did it a while ago, and don't know FOR SURE that it is the file. I know deleting a wav file somewhere did it.

You can turn the beep off using ZOC Options - Edit Session Profile - Terminal - Enable Sound/Beep

hahah I remember that problem you had Wild, thought you got it fixed. The way to turn it off is to go to Edit, Preferences and uncheck "play a sound for the bell character (ascii 0x07)"

I would also uncheck the play user alert sound while you're at it, unless you like the beep when anything happenes in the sector you are sitting in.

For Swath i believe it's "Swath Preferences", "User alert settings" change to "None"

Can't you just mute the volume or turn it down at night?

I just plug in my head set, that will make it go away:]

If using Windows, left click on the loudspeaker icon on the toolbar (or whatever the hell the new name Gates came up with for the strip at the bottom of the screen) select mute.

I dont know about anyone else, but I like listening to music while I play, thats why I wmat to make it stop. And the turn off "Swath Preferences", "User alert settings" change to "None" doent help.
I wonder if EP knows.
Yo EP Where you at?

Heh, I've been trying to answer this question for 2 days... that's really how little time I've had.

Anyway, my solution isn't real pretty, but I think we can make it work. Essentially, you toggle TWX's Deaf Client mode to on, toggle on Local Echo, then manually echo CURRENTANSILINE to the clients after stripping #7.

More as I have time.
