Iduno but i believe it would have to be run through a BBS because TWGS didn't exist back then?

Best ones to ask about the true original TW game would perhaps be Mad Hatter and Gypsy if you can contact either of them...and it would have to be ran through a BBS door I believe. Next question would be if only 1 node would be active for the game with limited time and turns (only at extern of course)...that raises the next issues of original ships and planets that only go to L4?

Yes, it would have to be run through a BBS - Synchronet would work, as would World War IV, both of which I believe are still in development, and can run it under Windows.
However you need to make sure that Multi-Node play is disabled (only one node at a time in game) as the game wasn't designed for it, and while you can do it, there are a whole bunch of bugs, such as being able to trade fighters/credits between corp mates. I give you fighters, you give me fighters, and the game doesn't update properly, so I end up with my and your fighters, and you end up with yours and my fighters! It's a lot quicker than trading for them, but ruins the game balance.
However we could have real fun, and make it a 100K sector universe game using the Expander. I still have the source code (current limit is 20K sector game - back when I wrote it that was more than enough), and for that matter would be happy to compile a version that doesn't require a reg code.
Hehe - or I could take Version 3.0 whatever Doors and expand it - can you imagine 100 x 5K universes - 500,000 sectors? And multi-player too. That would be a blast. Note that I did some preliminary work on this 4-5 years ago, and it wouldn't be really difficult to implement, but that it would be time consuming, and I'm doing a lot of traveling in the next few months on business, so it might take a while.
Of course I could always open source the Expander - I've been thinking of doing that, but I haven't managed to contact the guy who wrote the door library yet, and since to make it work well I'd have to get his permission to let everyone use my reg code for the library. This is why the source for the Expander is not in the TW File Archive at present.

MH, I wish the current twgs had something like that, it would make the current games a hoot. Laff.

If you're planning to use TW 2002 1.03 or any of version 2 of TW 2002, I doubt that you can run it under telnet, as my understanding is that telnet REQUIES a fossil driver...and TW 2002 before version 3 does NOT have that. I would love to be able to run version 2 of the game under telnet, as I have a bunch of extra addons that I could use. But, none of them have fossil support. For that matter, I have several other doors that I'd love to run on the BBS that don't have a fossil with them. With Synchronet BBS software (telnet only), doors that do direct comport I/O only without having a fossil driver, will NOT work. I do not know of a utility that would allow these non-fossil doors to run under telnet...but, would be interested in finding out about one.

Its been a long time, but couldn't you just load a fossil driver? Again, this is going back like 12+ years and everything, but I didn't have broadband back then. Never had to deal with it.

If only TWGS/TW3x could be configured to play as TW1/2classic.. I may have to set up a sycnh board running my old tw2x copy with external mods. Some of em were fun.
