I've been told that a championship game should have certain specifications such as 1000 turns or less, 5000 sectors or less, and basic default settings or close to it. I've always thought that a real winning player or corporation could win any type game and under any conditions. Let's dump the old fashioned way of thinking and get some various type championship games going.
Just an opinion. Everyone has one of those and I'm sure they'll express them toward this message.

perhaps you are using the word "championship" a bit loosely.. like if i dont play this crap Butt game i have no chance of being a champion, thats my only beef. oh and i am cowardly if i dont play.. good try.

Dunno, I tend to play all kinds... win some, lose some. Just seems that a championship-style game should have elements that challenge all types of players, builders, cashers, gridders, hunters, alike. High sector numbers tend to draw if the turns are too low, and high turns make cashing and turn management rather irrelevant... leading to a game that is won less by cunning and strong team play and more by cashing and gridding scripts. I think a championship game should have a balanced edit, including planet specs and cit times, ship specs, ship costs, sectors and yes turns.
Then there's the issue of a turn bank... if a person can't be futz'd to play their turns every other day then they aren't a "champion" by any standard. As it stands now you just bank in fedspace and run a big team SDT on day 6. Where's the skill in that? "Ooo look, I can decloak and twarp out in a macro! I'm a champion!"

I disagree.. i think the turnbank is probably the best thing added to this game. I know that sometimes i work untill 7 and then work out, then go out and theres no time during that day to play. But I definately will play my turnst the next day. Its nice not having tw as your first priority. But as your second hahah.

Scorch, Turnbank is not the problem, its a 6 day turn bank thats a little crazy. Sing said if you cant play every other day, not everyday, and I agree with him.
Two things I see wrong with this is, 1-BigD is saying other then the few settings he mentioned, all others will be discovered in game, yet im sure since hes the one pushing it, he knows all of them, including what planets do, an advantage over anyone else playing.
2-with this high of a turn game, any corp/scripter with an ubber cashing script will have "MAJOR" advantage over others who would have to use say supgwssm or 2_wssm or a mod they were given of the sort, but coming no where near close enough to match credit for credit what select players have in there twx directory. This alone is one of the major reasons why I don't play high turn games, I can't compete for cash.
I would not say this is a champinoship game, but rather a torney game for high turn players.

I'm not trying to change anyones opinion, as I'm sure I won't, but for one (Coke) I'm not playing the game. There will be no advantage. Two, if you need to wait 6 days to run your turns, the game will probably be close to over by then. Three, twx is open source now and Rammar's SDT script is free, so anyone with the smarts to download and run the script can compete with all out there.
P.S. I'd sure hate to think that there's anyone out there still SDT'ing by hand. lol
Have a good day.

Well Loc, I never said anything about cowardly. I just said the championship games should vary in settings. As far as a crap game, you seem to be the one with a problem. If you don't want to play, don't. Just get off of everyone else's case that does want to play various games.

That was saying that anyone trying something new is brave. NOT that anyone not trying it is cowardly. Big difference. Anyone not trying it would be just missing out. [:)]

I think you guys try to read to much into a name of a game. Why can't there be a game with mid level turns, or high turns to some, for the players that like that type of game. I know many players who don't play in low turn games as they say they don't like them or not there style.

You don't have to have a corp to get into the game, I'm sure there will be others in the game solo looking for a corp after the bang.
You do have 24 hours to get into the game tho.

Did you know that the championship status of a TW game can be measured by determining the air speed velocity of a African swallow divide by the number of sectors in the game, multiplied by the price of photons, multiplied by the number of people who showed up the first day, then divide by pie.
The smaller the resulting number is the better chance the game is championship quality.
True fact.
