You know, it struck me recently that people who say they hate truce games joined & played them recently and used the fact they don't like truce games to attempt to justify repeated and significant rule violations that got one or more of them banned... Now I admit there are a lot of rules in general and even more that apply during truces, and as an example of how hard it is to follow the rules I found a few violations in the current game F on http://www.ultimatetw.com: Sector : 708 in uncharted space. Ports : Phoenix Annex, Class 3 (SBB) Mines : 63 (Type 1 Armid) (belong to Corp#4, Stacked Deck) Sector 708 ==> 730 Warps : 4 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Sector 1896 ==> 100 Warps : 3 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Sector 8134 ==> 600 Warps : 5 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Scan from sector 10 to one of only 2 ways out into non fedspace Sector : 11219 in uncharted space. Ports : Biela II, Class 6 (BSS) Planets : (M) . Fighters: 5,000 (belong to Corp#4, Stacked Deck) [Toll] NavHaz : 1% (Space Debris/Asteroids) Mines : 250 (Type 1 Armid) (belong to Corp#4, Stacked Deck) Sector 2 ==> 622 Warps : 6 NavHaz : 1% Anom : No Sector 9 ==> 101 Warps : 2 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Sector 19 ==> 0 Warps : 2 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Sector 11219 ==> 28,121 Warps : 4 NavHaz : 1% Anom : No Sector 13251 ==> 0 Warps : 3 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No Of these two, the worst problem was in the sector right off sector 10 because it was a sector that had a very high probability for an inadvertent ingress by an unknowing player. Indeed there were several instances of people in this game trying to get around the rules and achieve truce kills by using NAVHAZ and it worked in several cases, mostly against players who were maybe a bit out of their depth who had just joined and were in poorly figged and shieled ships with no scanner yet because they just joined. Clearly the production of large navhaz around the class zero ports, and the eventual destruction of the class zero port at terra, were intended to cause truce kills and are violations of the spirit and as far as I'm concerned the rules of the truce. Both of the above captures are of sectors that were mined that should not have been during a truce - they were both regular transit sectors, not tunnel sectors. Now I'll be the first to admit I told my CEO I was going to mine a few sectors outside our bases and he directed me to the rules where it is clearly written you cannot mine sectors outside bases during truces on truce games - and this game is a truce game and as I write this the truce has not yet expired. Anyway it seems I am not the only one who needed to go back and re-read the rules, as the above captures show. Luckily I had an honest, intelligent CEO who put me straight before I caused a significant violation of the rules of the truce. The point of this post is we all should read and follow the rules of the games we are playing in order to ensure a fair game takes place. As for those who like the no-truce games and can't stand the truce games - more power to you. Keep playing those no-truce games and have fun, but if you come into a truce game again (despite the fact you claim to hate them) follow the rules this time. |

You know I hear people saying that and I've been playing in games there for a while both truce and non-truce... haven't had a problem there until certain people decided they were above the rules. Now it's true the sysop was on a much deserved "vacation" of sorts and didnt' watch the game as closely as he should, but on the other hand on another game server (of which the name will remain unspoken) all it took to get my friend banned was a friend of the sysop claiming he was duping when he wasn't - and I know this for a fact. The reason the friend of the sysop made the complaint? He was tearing up the fig grid and doing real damage while unable to be caught and killed. So since the other player couldn't keep up, they used friendship with the sysop to get my friend kicked out of the game and banned from the server under false pretenses. |

That certainly happens. Also, lots of suspected cheating happens. Just a friendly warning. There are people that don't like my server too. Justified or not. |

Vader's server is one of the best I've played on. UltimateTW is for people who like alleged cheating and truces. AND whining about people breaking truces. The game IS called Tradewars- not Trade-diplomacy... |

Every month it seems people post something negative about ultimate last month it was duping and the sysop was t-editing games. Shrug, I would never get in a game there even if I did decide to come out of retirement and get in a game. Also truce games don’t work if the rules are not coded in to the game there is no way to force people to follow them. Now Black Sun that’s another story playing a game there is like hanging out in that dark seedy old pool hall/bar were all the hooligans go. =P |

Yea because you all are a bunch of young wiper snapper hooligans with your new fangled scripts and such griding over here then griding over there racing through them sectors as fast as you can firing photons at anything that moves. Why I tell you back in my day we would have to grid in our bear feet in 3 feet of snow both ways and we like it. Phontons cost a lot more because they were harder to make back then so when we used one we had to be dam sure it was going to hit something. And a truce was never even thought of if you didn’t want to have your vessel turned in to a pod you stayed in fed with all the other scary cats. But now days its just a bunch of hooligans I say hooligans!! |

Pah! Back in MY day, we didn't have telnet. We didn't even have modems. We had to bang two rocks together in binary! And we liked it! |
