Most players frown on any type of corpie backstabbing but one....using a script that someone else wrote on the person who wrote it. How do others feel about this? I wonder how RammaR feels about his gridders being used against him or Oz his scripts and bot?

Akor I don't guess they mind, cause if they didn't want them to be played against them, they wouldn't have let them out to the public. But I may be wrong.

NOT that anyone uses my scripts I HATE YOU ALL! (uh sorry, was spazzing out there) I think if someone photons me with my dock photon, or someone gets away from me with quick xport, it would be flattering. How I would love to hear "Ender's 'blah blah blah' loaded!"
Heh.
P.S: Akor, you have to ignore some of our other traders, they just love to be snoody. Uh those who dont want their scripts used against them, dont release them

I'm thinking if they give them out they don't care, or they have better ones that they use.
And they more than likely have a way to beat them. Just my thoughts.

NP, Ender. The question was addressed to scripters. To my knowledge Coke and Animal aren't, but about public scripts, I guess it is dumb. Your feeling is prolly what all the other public script writers would feel....proud. But when it comes to PRIVATE scripts that a scripter emails to corpies who, in a later game, uses it against them how do you scripters feel? I bet you don't feel proud when that occurs do you Ender?
That is the real problem I was wanting input about.

That is why most scripters release older versions of scripts so the newer ones can beat it. But I have to say I have seen a lot of logs lately that say Wildstar's Ore *****. I think its cool.
Thanks for useing them guys and vote for me at the TW awards.

I love it when they use them against me. A good chunk of Psion's kills in CW2 were from using some of my kill scripts. Made me quite proud.

There once was a scripter who shared his scripts, yet for some reason one particular shared one didn't work on him,(the scripter who shared the scripts that is), yet when this same scripter started to sell his scripts in an encripted format, people bought the scripts.
There are ways to limit a scripts functionality to a limited set of parameters, this is the way to go IF you don't want your work used against you.
these parameters can be as varied as,
time limit
game limit
specific corp
trader name
traders targetable
age of game
or even deactivatable via private hails
Otherwise scripters release there work for varied reasons.
1- to advance the ability of non scripters to compete thus raising the bar, allowing for more and more competitive games to be played.
2- to increase the scripters esteem in the twars community.
3- to challenge his/her peers to a duel of sorts where the goal is to produce the best script.
4- or even from a purist point of view to neutralize the impact of another traders script.
I am sure there are a few more ways to limit scripts that i didn't elucidate, and other reasons for script release i didn't mention.
I am sure others will elaborate further.

laff... ck was rumored to have done that.
I think the worst instance of this is when a scripter gives his private scripts to someone for a particular game under the understanding that the receiver won't pass them out. Then, later on,
they decide to pass them out (usually to his/her corpies when corped elsewhere) regardless of the
scripter's intent. There are lots of ways to lock down scripts to prevent this, but everything
can be cracked to some extent. If a script can be disabled (or cause the victims to cby... lol)
via private hail then anyone who gets the hail can later do that to others. If a script won't
target a specific person then anyone can use that name to avoid targetting. Etc, etc.

Using someone else's scripts against the scripter can get you in trouble. The person that wrote the script knows its flaws, how it operates and how to counter it in many cases.
Now if you want to counter my ptorp script all you have to do is enter:
(C)omputer
(B)rowse
(Y)es
Do that and you won't even see me in the game.

So what's to stop the next person from going into the underground, changing their name and sending the command? What if it was you that got sent the command, would it still cby?

The version of ck's script that didn't target himself was free (and for 1.x). The scripts that people paid for didn't have that limitation.
