I know you've all heard the reports of the bombings in Brittian, and the copy cat bombings, then the ones down in Egypt, the daily ones in Iraq, and Afghanistan (cant spell that word for sh!t) and my question is, how can you destroy such hate? Such ingorance? Such a plague?? The war on innocent civlians is on! How the hell can we defend ourselves? |

Yea, probably would help some. But they're still going to kill. Generations of hatred, taught from birth, re-inforced by religion and politicians that scapegoat a nation's problems to the innocent... can't be undone in an evening. Cannot be solved by any single action. When you promote murder and punish charity with cruelty, don't be surprised when you breed a group of assassins. And while its only a minority of the area, 1 bad apple can spoil the whole dang bunch. These murderers came to us, we did not seek them out. They torture and kill as many people as they can. They kill civilians without concern and teach their recruits that we are too "weak" to do the same. We practice a great deal of restraint and are rewarded by an inbred hatred that has existed longer than we have. This problem is not going to go away until the people of these respective nations get fed up with others controlling their fate and take back their country. From us, and from supporters of terrorism. And that, sadly, won't happen until they are tired of the bloodshed and hunger more for peace than revenge. |

First off or government really needs to stop selling our decommed weapons to these lamea$$ thirdworld countries. Which they do just so that they have a reason to keep advancing our militaries technologies, i.e. we now have F-22's so we will decommission our F-14's and F-16's, oh and since we do not need them anymore because they are "outdated" we will just sell them to Country-X for the "assumed" purpose of creating an allegiance with them. Spending 70-plus billion dollars every presidency on consolidating aircraft bids, what a complete crock of crap. We are already the recognized worldwide military superpower, nobody can touch the U.S.; that money could be used else were to make this world better, to make this nation better. |

i tend to disagree with the "us cannot be touched" statement rexx.. if we got into a war with, lets say china, we would be in some serious trouble |

If we got into a war with China... no. We wouldn't be. Look at what a small group of insurgents is doing in Iraq. Size really doesn't matter in military, it's the way you use what you have. For the curious tho we actually HAVE been at war with China before, back in Korea. A direct war, mainland against mainland, would not be pretty. Nuclear weapons would start flying and then no one would care who had the larger army of skeletons. Fortunately, atleast at present, the modern leaders of both nations are smart enough to know that a war like that is bad for business. China does not concern me much, they're opening up and becoming more democratic. Prosperous nations don't go to war with each other... there's too much money at stake. Trade is cheaper than war. It's the poor nations with a lot of violent intentions that worry me. Today the middle east, 20 years from now... Africa. And the probability of encountering terrorism via WMD increases as the years go by. We have no long term strategy for dealing with this problem right now. Instead it appears that they are used more as a weapon of politics, for people to get their respective leaders elected. One thing tho about "money being used elsewhere." Money spent at the gov't level is not a flat cost model, it's spent on industry that is later taxed. So you can spend money even if you don't have it, the only downside is the effect of deficit spending on currency valuation and market faith. It may sound good to take 30 billion from arms and spend it elsewhere, but you'd have to fire a lot of people to make those cuts. So what are you going to do, take that money from people that (probably) work a little for it or give it to people that don't work at all (the dole)? |

No one can touch U.S.? The way they will "touch" us is in numbers. 9/11 I foresee more terrorist acts hitting US soil. Maybe not in the same way (planes), but one day someone will set off a nuke in the US. They already stopped one from going off a few years ago. As my father used to say, "where there is a will, there is way". And with the way our borders are basicly open both north and south they will not have to much problems getting stuff in. Hell there are Americans out there that would help them for a price. As far as innocents getting killed, it happens in all wars. Shoot first and ask questions later. We all know the stuff Sodom did to innocents, do we not? So before you get all rightous about killing innocents, read the old testament in the Bible, most are guilty by association. We all wish wars were not happening, that everybody could just get along, but it ain't gonna happen in the near future. Deal with it. With a son in the Marines who is going to be deployed to Iraq or Afganistan in the near future, I fear for his safty, I fear for all Americans in war situations. What must be done quite frankly MUST be done. http://www.military.com has hundreds of stories and pictures and movies of stuff going on with our troops in foriegn countries. |
