Tradewars Unlimited Championship 2005!

Ok, been alot of talk about it, but I decided to do something about the talk. The site is up, its on Geo-Cities, I know its lame there, but untill I can get a host that is where it will be.

http://www.geocities.com/deh_1012

This is going to be a BYOC game. Signups will be taken at a later date. I'm hoping to work in conjunction with a few big unlimited players...and get this setup. See what kind of edits we would like.

All suggestions are welcome. I just want to let you all know in advance this will not be like my Blast Off Tournament. I have a brand new computer, and all I am doing is setting it up. I will have no sysop duty, or anything like that.

Please ICQ me if you feel that you have some CONSTRUCTIVE input. I know that this game is dangerously close to the end of Corp Wars and the start of the BYOC game Vader was mentioning, but I'm ready for a change, so there it is!

I have been thinking lately about the viability of unlims in TW. Unless they are carefully edited, most think that they would be over quickly with the winners being the first ones to enter the game. My ideas are:
1. Reds can buy only ships that have few holds so they wont swamp the game too quickly with cash.
2. Blues can buy ships that are much more powerful than the reds, to balance the field.
3. This one could be hard to setup: A sysop script would be ran on every hour to prevent corps from having a mixed membership. If a blue CEO decides to let a red into his corp, or vise versa, the script would disolve the corp and #SD# all members.
In short, I think that unlims are viable as long as there is a balance betweeen alignments and the ships are weak enough.

On the other hand, Ender. Since it will be sandwiched between CW2 and BYOC, you might want a quicky unlim. Just any edit would do there.

More on edit options. Ender, if you want fast play, setting the Max Command Cycle to 255 would allow processing of 255 commands/cycle. And setting the Proccessing Interval to 1 would allow processing at 1 sec/cycle. Thus with both you would be allowed to execute 255 commands/sec. These are under menu option H of the TWGS editor. You'll need a fast CPU with lots of mem to do this.
And, you already know what to do with Ship Delay. [:P]

Let me explain something to you all, an Unlimited game is never really secured untill you have 20 million figthers, or the most secure front door ever. Let me give you a little example. Playing a game over a slagthors my team and I capped all the alien planets and had a huge buble with 9 sectors full of lvl 3's. Well I go to bed this morning to wake up...#sd# and reading the logs it looks like all my corpies are dead and that our buble has been compromised. Hmm...

Thought it was over and won, I was wrong.

Try bbs.farpointbbs.com C game. I dare you to be able to win quickly. I'll even let you be one of my corpies. I have 10-15 planets, some L6 and some L7. I also have 8mil figs or more (haven't checked lately). I would like the help for sure. There are two other corps in the game and one solitary player. Since I have started, about 3 months ago, no one has made any dent on the other's corps except the corp that tooks some of mine. For that I need vengence. But as for winning....Ender and Bob the Builder both agreed that it would take a long time since the game is old.
Perhaps then, unlims that are allowed to age by being ran for a month or so before it is open to players, would be harder to win. Especially one with many alien races in it.

An L7 planet? Thats a neat trick, where can I get one? Also, having a game for a month before opening up to players won't do anything. That game is difficult to win not because its old, but because players have had a long time to build up. If you want aliens to be very powerful very quickly, then the race can be set up that way.
