I would like to congratulate Phoenix Rising for winning this year's USO. It was a good and enjoyable game. PR led pretty much the entire game and after nearly 2 weeks clinched their victory. On a more personal note, I would also like to thank Jhereg and crew for one of the most enjoyable invasions I've ever received. If anyone would like lessons on how NOT to invade a planet, talk to Jhereg :P

So with USO all done and finished, when does the Chess game start?

Hey good job to PR. J is still one of the best CEO's in my book. No clue who Havok was, but hell of a killer. Great game guys, hope to play with you again soon...

Yeah, I've corped with J in a couple of tournies. He's an awesome player, really knows the game. Krim too. I wanted to win but didn't think anybody but PR was going to take it.

<said dryly> Thanks Harley :)

But I agree, that was the most intense invasion I have ever been through. You did an incredible job, and as usual, I learned more in that brief time about invasions than I had in months.

Congrats to all who came and played, and C6 and C5, you guys did great. You kept trying no matter what, and for that you all showed yourselves to have the makings of great players.

Thanks to everybody for coming to the game, and good luck in future majors.

Jhereg

lol slim, im not sure about majors either when every single one comes with a new controversy and alienates a new trader. I personally love big games and tournies and will continue to play in them, but i would like to strongly caution against using hail spams and spoofs in any future games. There is no need for them, you guys would of won anyways but now your win is tainted with this controversy, and im not the only baby on this one, almost everyone ive talked to has felt the same way as me. Also i would like to state at this time that Psion voted to play on but the corp vote went the other way and he supported our decision. I also appreciate the hard work my corp put in while we played. You guys were always there when i needed u and im proud of the way our corp played. To those who disagree with how we went out, i can only speak for myself but i personally voted with my feet and also was completely burnt out with school and trying to put in all the keytime i needed to. For me this game will never be about "win at all costs" tactics, its about the day to day fun and strategy of the game, and if i never win a major the only people that will know are faceless, nameless online tw players so i think i can deal with that :)

People just have a lot thinner skins than they used to, it seems. There was nothing that went on this USO that hasn't happened for years past. All in all, it was a fairly mild major in terms of controversy. People just wanted to make it a big issue.

I'd love to see the screen caps from that invasion. I know that I was killed earlier in that day I guess by Havok. Great game though by all. I will say that I too simply didn't have the at keys time that I had put in during previous majors, or even highly populated games.

And about the "tactics" used, thats all about the game. My corp felt it hard more than once, with RR being CBY'd and I know I got screwed up a couple times due to various things. I will say that the hails can be turned off at any time. I believe it's cn5 or something close to that which turns off the private hails. You can also turn off fed chatter. Maybe fed chatter is cn5 and receiving private hails is cn6. This will severely limit the spamming that is caused. Questionable tactics yes, but this game did not warrant nearly the same controversy that USO4 gathered in a mere 90 minutes. It happens, your team survives or dies, and you learn for the next game you play.

I want to thank my corp of Mrann Nexus, Silence, Slim Shady, Kemper3, and River Rat for allowing me to play with them, even though my ATK time was practically non-existant. I always learn new things when I play with Kemper, Slim always keeps things fun, RR and Silence are great guys to corp with, and I got to corp with someone new in Mrann and I liked how he played. This was a much better game than USO4. I hope there still will be a USO6, and some majors with some "old School" flavor mixed in.
