I have been coding up a graphical version of TW2002 for the last few weeks and I thought I'd post the working version I have so far on here for review by the real fans. It is a very crude version with a lot of improvement to be made, but it has trading capability, genesis torps, sector scanning, course plotting, attacking, ship-capturing and so on.
I am calling the game "Space Quest Wars" and it will eventually combine TW2002 with the Sierra Space Quest series. For those of you not familiar, Space Quest was an adventure game back in the 1990s which followed the adventures of Roger Wilco and was a point-and-click type game. My vision is a game that combines the month-long games of TW2002 with the ships, figs, planets and strategy with an adventure-game-style interface on Stardocks where players can build a character and roam the mall in an online-community style.
What I need, however, is a few good computer graphics people who can do simple 256 color images much in the style of Sierra's Space Quest III (screenshots at: http://www.spacequest.net/sq3/screenshots/). I would also like suggestions in the actual game.
The game can be viewed and played at http://68.170.34.206:2000/SQW.php ... it is far from bug-free or finished, but it is playable.
My email is wampler114@yahoo.com . I look forward to your comments.

Jesus, the only difference between "create an account" and "login" is that you have to enter your password twice on "create an account" You don't even have to enter an email if you don't want to. And I can't do guest because it is a multiplayer game, and having two players trying to control "guest's" ship at the same time might get a little confusing...

Yes, the game is very rough right now, a lot of stuff is not implemented. And yes, you can get unlimited holds, unlimited figs and unlimited shields for now. And you also have infinite genesis torps and infinite atomic detinators. This is just to allow for easier testing. We have implemented photons but I left them out of this demo for obvious reasons
And I am glad you brought up the Stardock question because that is why I put it out on demo. We are looking for someone with a little bit of graphics ability to draw us a stardocks. We'd like it to be in the quality of Space Quest III ( http://www.spacequest.net/sq3/screenshots/), 256 colors and such. Stardocks will now be graphical and you can have your characters walk around in it, actually getting to go into the different emploriums and banks and shipyards, and even meet in bars. We have most of the coding done for it, but our graphics are just crude and pathetic. I can write a very effective distributed hash table in any programming language, but for some reason I just can't draw a happy-face.

lol! ya, game is cool, it reminds me of playing twars back in early 90's. no scripts, no bots, everything by hand. its fun as hell! i have no ability (that i am aware of) at making graphical things on a computer but i have played most all of the space quest games (are you going to have mrs. astrochicken in the stardock mall? hehe) and they were hella fun. do you have all those games or the kings quest games? those were classic! i think mine are sitting in a box somewhere at my parents house. if u got em u should email em to me or something heh, i love re-playing old school games years later. next time i am at my parents ill have to get those disks. i think i have most of them on 3 1/2's but i think there are a few (the early ones) on 5 1/4's still (dont have one of those drives anymore, heh)
anywho, thats all i got now heh

heh, how did i start in a corp flagship? Not too shabby tho... I guess everyone starts in a random ship, interesting idea, but also has the possibility to be unfair. I like the graphical idea and its well implemented, but there has to be more keyboard usage, especially since its based on trade wars. simple things like being able to use enter to to confirm would help. Also, a scan where you can see what, or what density, all the surrounding sectors are would be nice. Selecting scan for each one is real tedious.
And now i think i have -31 fighters... hmmmmm, hows that work?

I started in a mule, and had trouble figuring out how to port and trade. Also, for the life of me I can't figure out how to port at stardock and refurb, I click on the port and only get the option to trade product.
This is a pretty neat start.
Hey what format do you need the ships in gif or jpg? I have a way of converting ANY of my ansi ships into bmp, gif or jpg! I can do the same for the actual stock ship pictures.
Let me know I can hook you up big time.
