Ok, I've been in thought about a game and want to gauge interest before proceding much further with it. The idea is this: I'm sure most of you are somewhat familiar with Big Game. Its 2-3 teams, each with a predetermined captain that drafts from a signed up pool of players. Each captain drafts (alternating) until each team has the same number of players. The latest Big Game had about 30 per team. What will make this version slightly different is that the "elite" players will not be involved. This particular game is for lesser knowns. The purpose is to increase skill level AND networking of the player base. Settings will be stock with citadel times cut in half and with a few ship modifications. The game edits WILL NOT change to some other type of edits and it WILL be a low turn game (800 turns or so). The question is, would you be interested in playing such a game? Post away....

Well I think it is an excellent idea. TW needs more people to get to know each other, and to encourage growth. I would recommend that people hit vader up for this!

I agree with Draconis...I think the idea of a BG consisting of lesser known players is a wonderful idea...

I like the idea. But who is going to compile the list of people who are ummm..... elites? And what is going to stop some of them from using another alias just to bypass the situation, or worse yet, prearrange it with certain people so they know exactly who is who.

Great Idea! But I forsee BIGTIME issues to overcome.

This is a great idea. I think people get into a rut playing with the same people over and over. A lot of people never get the chance to play with someone new or some one with exp. This would be a great avenue to get some of the newer people up to speed without having them feel intimidated by all of the "Elite" players running the game.

Yes it is a good idea but without any of the elite players how are they going to learn the tricks of the trade that make the elite what they are.

Maybe combine it somehow with Draconis' idea of a Pro/Am style game so that the more advanced players were setup as coaches / advisors to help teach the game. Deciding who can or can't play and policing things may prove difficult but the overall concept is good.

Well, that "list" would be made by me. I'm not excluding to be mean. Let's face it, a lot of players won't play a game with a lot of the known names because of intimidation. This game will have a website that will include edits, teams, and also contact info for everyone in the game. We're not making a game just to be playing a game. Its going to serve on many levels.

I'm all for it but I think what feral is suggesting might be less of an issue than he thinks. I would not expect a number of them to want to be involved.

If they do, give the ones you trust an ambassador account and let them advise away. Stuff like: checking sdt areas for mcic and explaining the concept where needed. Stuff like helping someone with a macro for busting at dock.

I like Maggie's idea...BG3 ran with 3 teams of 10? ... set it up something like that with either an "elite" as a captain of each team or set them up the ambassador's account as "coaches"...also agreeing with Maggie...I don't think very many "elites" will wanna be involved either...but I for one would love to play...lord knows my game needs help LOL.

Great idea. Gives others a chance to get to compete.

I think most are missing the point that vader is trying to create another entity within tradewars, one that is quite separate from all the bull**** that surrounded the last tourney filled with the "elites". thats my favourite point. :)
