Question for everyone! I did a search before asking this but nothing I found covered it. I used to run a WWIV board, now I am setting up a SBBS board (Synchronet) because of the built in telnet options. I am trying to get the Doors to work, but for some weird Butt reason when I open a door a new window opens. I want to run the BBS because I want to offer game other than TW2002, like LoRd, Bre, Usurper, Exitilus etc. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you for any help you can offer. |

Are you talking about a DOS window opens up in Windows, called dosextern? I run a Synchronet BBS as well so I'm just trying to clue in to which window exactly you are refering to. You can message me here or to outpost-4@mk-tek.com |

Yes the window says EXEC/DOSXTRN on it! When I pull up the window I can login to the game but shouldn't it open in the window I already have open?? I've logged into Synchronet BBs's before and never had this problem. Can you help me fix this problem? |

I've logged into Synchronet BBs's before and never had this problem. Can you help me fix this problem? It's funny. I ran SBBS for Dos and Remote Acces for many years. Then came Synchronet. The first time the dos/xtrn box opened, I kept closing it. I had no idea I was closing users out of the game. The doors do run in two windows. One is your telnet client, the other is the dosxtrn command. In the /exec directory there should be a dosxtrn.pif file. Edit it's properties to run minimized and close on exit is checked. I've never seen it not there, but I learned to make sure it ran minimized and auto closed when done, or I'd end up with 20 of them on my task bar. So when a user logs into your BBS and goes to a door and enters the game, you will see the dosxtrn window minimized on your task bar. When they leave, it closes. Does that help? |

Well the big problem is this. With TW2002(im running v3.09 not twgs) the game opens in a seperate window but not in the telnet window (when I login) when a user logs in the game won't do anything. And NONE of the other games that I have tried to setup will run at all...Bre, Lord, Exitilus, Usurper, Planets all those type of games. I used to run a WWIV board years ago, and never had this kind of trouble getting the online games to work. When I decided to open another BBS I chose Synchronet because its soooo easy to setup for Telnet!!! And I know everyone will say I should run TWGS, but I already have v3.09 and wanted a Classic style game. If the board works out well and I enjoy running a BBS again then I will think about TWGS! Well any help you can provide would be great, thank you! |
