Lately everyone has better and better scripts, specially hearing Alexio's scripts are mostly better than any out there all the time. Well I hear Big12ozhog is catching up on making excellent resource scripts, but Alexio's way ahead in making cashing scripts. Now the question I have is, how does a poor player like myself get one of these scripts, its been over a year now and very tired of begging for scripts. Isnt there a way to pay for it or something like a decently priced script, not like $300-600 USD for a friggin wssm script. I know CK releases good scripts for a decent price isnt there anything around for a decently good auto sdt, wsst, fast wssm or anything, a pdrop that calculates the time of figs being hit and then matches the speed of the player hittin the figs to get the pdrop to eliminate them. Or a charge that has like 5-10 functions in one. Sigh anyone know anything Im willing to pay for a script now, considering in the past I wasnt. -WooF! |

Oz is in fact, the man. havent used alexio's good scripts, but ive seen em in use. screw twar tournies, lets have a script-off, take the top 16 scripters and have them make scripts in a round robin tourney and the person who makes the best script each round advances and the winner will get... um, my respect of course all scripts will have to be 100% original each round and will be open to the public for testing and voting. heh. as for some of those scripts... i think there ARE some public scripts that do some of that. i'll leave this post as is (don't wanna wreck the mood with something serious or useful) but if you want to talk about it, icq me. I believe Alexio only releases his older scripts. One's that he has already made a newer/better/faster version of. |

$300-$600 for a WorldSSM script? It would be cheaper to take programming courses at a local community college and then learn REXX or TWX scripting and write them yourself. That is, of course, if you knew all the formulas behind the game. I think some of the people with the 733t scripts are the ones that write them themselves and only share them with best friends or their permacorps. If they sold them, then too many people would have an advantage in the game. Can't beg, borrow, or steal any of those scripts. Wow $300-$600 a script? I wonder how many scripts get sold for that much? Almost makes me want to take up programming again. [:)] I usually play without the killer scripts, which is why I get beat so often, that and sometimes not paying attention to the edits, etc. In a game where people aren't running killer scripts, I can do quite well. Usually just the adjacent pdrop script to deal with. If someone is running a hunter script, or data mining script, or a script that makes a ton of cash, then I am in big trouble. I usually work in a corp as a blue and planet farm, grid, ptrade, ppt, furb, etc and let the others run their killer scripts. I can play as a red, but I use the standard red scripts and am not as profitable as those who registered the killer red scripts to cash a lot. Last game we won because we outcashed, outfigged, outgridded, and outcolonized the other corp and combined two corps into one when the other corp recruited enough to fill up their corp. They had an adjacent pdrop script, but it did not matter in the end. We even gave them a time to rebuild after we captured a few of their planets and stipped them bare, before the corps merging. Not sure if they used any killer scripts, but I know that I did not. |

People put too much emphasis on the role of attack scripts in a game. |

People put too much emphasis on the role of killing in games too. In many cases getting podded can be more profitable than podding the other person. I like to put more emphasis on control - if I control the circumstances under which I pod someone or they pod me, I win. |

I am not in the league of alexio or hog ,but I have some scripts at http://www.Homicideinc.Com.I am trying to give back a little to the people I mooched from for all that time.As for the ssm scripts and attack scripts. They can be beaten. There is always a way.If you find it,then you make them useless for others to use them. |

WooF - I'd encourage you to learn how to write scripts yourself. It isn't really ALL that hard. Study some of the scripts you have the source code for to see how they are put together, and ask questions in the forums or privately. You shouldn't have any trouble finding the help you need. Most of the scripts out there aren't publicly released for a very good reason; they're not very polished. Scripters tend to write what they need for themselves or their corp, and not worry about the general public because writing scripts for general release is a pain in the butt. Publicly released scripts have to be thoroughly tested and account for a wide variety of situations and unintended uses. I've only bothered to release about 20% of my scripts because I don't want to spend the effort polishing every last script I ever made. |

I like to put more emphasis on control - if I control the circumstances under which I pod someone or they pod me, I win. I would like to know more about this stragedy of profiting from getting yourself podded. Email me if you do not wish to make that public. Past few games it was not being podded that happened, but someone ptorping others to get a denial of turns by running an adjacent pdrop script. Also invading other corp's planets seems to be a good way to take them out, podding them seems like a waste of time to me. If they have nowhere to hide, and their bases are taken out, chances are they are going to lose. If I just pod them they can always buy another ship from their cash reserves. The key to me is to try and take away those reserves from the other players or corps, and expand your grid to control space. I have seen corps with good hunters, they can pick off our planets fast because they have some sort of script that tells them the best hiding space, or analyses fig hits to see where we are located, etc. Even putting our planets in hiding spaces that nobody in their right mind would put planets did not work, as they found them anyway. So perhaps do having good scripts really matter? Can a skilled player without the killer scripts actually have a chance of winning a game verses players who use the scripts? |
