I guess this is the best forum for this.

What do you do with corpies who don't play? We all have it from time to time in games were we don't come in with our permas. What do ya do when someone brings alot to the table day one, but now it is day 3, and they have nothing to show. They don't log in, or do nothing when they do, etc. I try to be a nice person, so I hate just removing them, because they brought colos, planets, ships in day 1, but now they have done nothing.

In general my opinion is that you join a game to play, if you don't show (especially during truce build ups in truce games), tiy aren't making the commitment. But I would like to hear others opinions.

Currently I have 2 corpies in a game, one hasn't showed since day 1 (that anyone else has seen, and no evidence of him doing anything if we missed it). The other, showed briefly on day 2, helped move a few colos (completely missed colo drop), than was going to WSSM and lay figs. By time I get back, the grid is smaller, no significant figs layed, and in 30k turns he made 23M. This suggest he didn't play much at all. Now I have people in the wings ready to replace them. What would you do?

J,
hunt them down in real life and kill them and their families, hehe
well, that is a risk u face when corping with people you dont know or dont play with much, i would say give them the benifit of the doubt and assume they are very busy in real life (could be college students with finals, work, familiy, etc..) try to get ahold of them, see what situation is, if they are busy, ask if they are willing to be removed to be replaced by someone who can run turns, if they get snappy with you and you are polite, drop em and replace em. i think i know of the game u are speakin of and you shouldnt need corpies who run turns to take that game, come on J, you gotta be better than that :) ive corped with prolly half of your perma, and they are all good, i can only hold you to the same standards i hold them, play that **** solo :) hehe

Lol, people seem to think that for some reason :). Nah, I think I need a full corp to grab colos and move em :) That would RULE to do win it solo though!

CEO's are like God IMHO What they say goes. I don't mean the one in the Flagship either. We all Know in some Games the Flagship is a better ship for certain jobs. If a copie doesn't show and its a hindrance to the game can their Butt. Things happen and it is a game so sometimes people can't make it. They should also know if there dropped its nothing personel. Some Games you can have a partime corpie and other games you simply cannot. If I could not run my turns I would not only not get bent out of shape from being dropped, but would expect it. Thats my take.

I agree with TW55. In a drawn out game it can be ok to be AFK for a few days even, but the first few days of a game of any type are the most critical methinks. Drop'em and bring in someone you can trust or recruit someone else. By the way, if anyone ever needs me to fill a slot and I'm not too busy, I'm glad to play. Learn something from everyone I play with.

As for me, I get a lot of players who don't play in my corp! If I'm the CEO I contact them and ask why. If they don't respond, or their excuses are lame I might just drop them (especially if someone else wants to play).

What I see is players that come in grid the whole universe, kill everyone that moves, then say "ok we won" and quit coming into the game!

Usually, corp members who aren't playing either have a good reason for it, or they just mistakenly think that it's "over." The latter will usually come back in and play if you nicely inform them that the game is not over yet.

As for me, I usually will let dormant players go rogue, and that's normally because no one else is "begging" to corp with me. I corp with someone because I "like" them, that's the only reason. If I don't like the person I don't care how darned good they are, I won't team up with them. NOT EVER!

Because I like my corpies, I'm very reluctant to drop them. I used to drop them on a dime, and all I found is that I hurt feelings and some of those guys never forgave me!

It's a game, after all. Just a game.

Ohmmmmm, Ohmmmmmm, Ohmmmmm

:)

just boot the player and bring in new players who want to play.
if the original player comes back and wants back in i'd prolly let him.

it's pretty much a losing situation either way but i wouldn't worry about it.

Corpies who don't play, and park in FedSpace, just became my bank b*tch! [:)] I can temporarily deposit credits on them and leave the game without being taxed and come back and get it later.

Oh yeah, if they are not going to play for a while and are in a citidel, I usually exchange a Thollian ship with them and kick them off the planet. [;)]

They got to have some uses if you don't have someone to replace them with.

I am with Tw55 and Orion if they are your friends they and play alot they will understand. If they get pissy just kick um off and set enough offensive figs to blast um when they come on if they can't understand that this is an on going game and some are won within a few days then they will just have to learn that i had too.

Suddenly you hear a faint metallic click on the side of your haul...

p.s. just a simple question if i was gonna start up a server what are the basics i would need , i read what elite has but not sure i can afford all that right now. ttyl =)[:P]
