Ok I have a question for all you players out there. A game is banged and everyone starts even. Your corp works hard and takes everyone out and controll's the universe and blockades fed. 1 day goes by, 2 days go by, 3 days go by so far no one can get in and so on and so on. Corp gets bored and says game over we win and dont play there anymore. Next few days people come in and finally takes that corp out. Qusetion is who wins? I mean the corp that had the game locked down dont want to play in a game all by them selves. So they claim the WIN, but at the same time the new people say they WIN because they took out that corp thats not playing anymore. SO WHO WINS? I want to know what all ya think, thanks

I look at it this way...
If I am on the corp that had it locked down,I say my corp wins, but
if I am on the corp that got in and took over,I say I win.
Either way I win heh.
I would say you won the game because this has happened to me before too.But when the new guys said they won,we just got in and killed them off to shut them up.
My 2 cents

the team that controls the game when the sysop closes/shuts it down or otherwize declares winner, wins

Its not hard to come in every day after exturn and HAZ the hell out of fedspace and if thats not enough, surround it with figs too. It could be done in 20 minutes a day. So no one could come in and try to take your win away from you.

If you felt the game is over then the first thing to do is contact the sysop....If he wants to decalre a winner right then...You win otherwise if you don't say anything the game is still alive right....

Like yogi beara said it aint over till its over.
1. if the sysop sets a game limit by sya for ie game last at leaST 30 DAYS. then the second corp wins.
2. if the sysop says he declares winners when he is contacted by winning corp and then he sees if its the case. the first one to lock it down.
3. If there is no rule sysop has to make the determination and first corp would probly lose.

I will restate an idea I have had. I would like the sysops get together and discuss and make a list of guide lines to help new sysops to avoid such pit falls as this.
It would not be a standard that everyone would have to follow, but sugestions to help what to set as server rules, what to do when an ugly inncident takes place, etc.

well any way my 2 cents

Well, from a player that likes both the quick and the slow. I have seen games that just don't have "Winners" in the sense, for the first corp came in dominated, well they left and the game filled with others less experienced or aggressive playing, and have a high old jolly of a time. Who won, they both did.

The first corp did what it likes to do, which is come in and dominate, the second corp did what its skill level allows it to do.

Depends on if the sysop likes to bang games ever week, or if he wants it to go on for 3 months.

But then my skill level is that I am just happy just to survive through the first corps run, and really play in the second coming.

the easiest way to ensure that your win 'sticks' is to blow all the ports in fed and the msl's. fig 100% of the game, and surround fed and the msls with say 10k offensive figs (or whatever the start settings dictate). Then park a manned loaded IDC in the msl between fedspace and stardock with the IG on. Game over.

if u played till u felt u won and the game was no longer fun, so u quit.. who cares if some other people came in and took your stuff and claimed win.. its a game, u had your fun, let others have theirs, you know u had the win, let them feel good about themselves.

the original post in this thread indicated a desire to know how best to determine the winner of a game. I stated the easiest way of definitively deciding who wins the game. Basically, if you make it so nobody can play the game after you have left, you have won the game, with no subsequent effort on your part to maintain an online presence. If you don't go to the effort to lock the game down, you haven't won the game, unless of course, there are sysop mandated 'win' conditions.

just because loki says it doesn't mean it's not stupid. if you have nothing to contribute, why bother posting?

oh excuse me for agreeing with you. i will not post any more np.
I only used Loki's saying because I like the way it sounded. it wasnt a slam to you. I guess there is too much friction in this community to enjoy conversation with one another. its only a game.
