Ok, I've played maybe a handful of games since 1998 (when I lost my first computer in my divorce).

All you twars Gods out there are kicking my butt on a daily basis, I don't like it :)

I have a few questions. I used to have 10 Zoc scripts that I could run with my registered Swath. (Last year some time) I apparently lost them. I'm trying to replace them, but whenever a nice Twars God gives me another Zoc script it won't load up in my Swath initializer. I've got the Swath.ini file configured correctly, it's something with the Zoc scripts themselves, for they were written to run with Zoc (of course).

I want the Zoc scripts because most of the scripts I get from the Swath Library either don't work at all, or they shut down in the middle of space and I end up *SD*

Can someone treat me like a Newbie (because apparently that's what I am... again) and walk me through the process of getting these scripts going.

For years I refused to use a helper! I played Twars with Ripterm, and then Riptel, writing macros as I went for the tedious stuff. I think I did pretty well for a guy without a pentium, and logging on with a dial connection at 14.4

Now, things have changed, I got cable connection, I got a pentium (333mhz) and I got registered Swath. It's still not enough to really compete, these guys (Like Master Time, Demon, Mayjor Payne etc.) are handing my Butt to me in a fire fight. This aggression will not stand. As God is my witness I will get some good scripts that allow me to survive long enough to invade their sectors (for there are few who are better at invasions than me, not a brag, it's true).

Ok that's enough, I know this looks like a pathetic plea for help from a desperate old fogie, and that's because... it is :)

You might need to get the telnet client Zoc for these to work...My suggestion is get TWX to work with swath...And get your hands on some good TWX scripts

Perhaps you should switch to twx...those scripts are more widely available, in many versions made by many different people.

I have to agree with Strider and PHX - twx scripts seem to be more plentiful. I ran ZOC (REXX) scripts for a while using SWATH and ZOC through TWX (I could write my own REXX scripts but didn't have a clue about TWX). I finally gave up on this kludge and bit the bullet on learning TWX (after Marduk and Dr Doog tore me up) and haven't been sorry. Doog is the one that told me I should be using TWX and kept after me (podding me along the way) to changeover. I did get one bit of satisfaction after switching to TWX -- a pod on Doog (yeah, I know, I still owe you a bunch of them).

I run ZOC with TWX, but i dont run REXX scripts at all.. its just a good interface and i can set tons of macros up to run on my F1-F12 keys (along with shift F1-F12) and has worked quite well with TWX for me :)

Scripts will help over game play but not required. I write tons of scripts but only use 2 or 3 a game.
I would suggest setting up some basic to complex macro's.

i as well have been out for a long time and lost all my scripts and forgot even how to write them (i started to teach myself way back when) right now i just live off macros (uncomplex ones). is there anyplace i can find to help teach me to write complex macros/scripts? i use zoc and twx (unfortunately twx is yet to be re-registered). or if there is any person who is willing to help personally, or just post on here (maybe a couple examples or something) i (and i am sure other non-twars gods) would appreciate it.
thanks guys,
Slim

Alexio, guys like you eat my macros for lunch. I have been writing good macros since the days I logged on using Ripterm, and then Riptel, the only symbol I forgot is the pause symbol, and that's because it never worked in the Rip programs. My macros are sound and I can do some kewl things with them, but up against a guy (or gal)like you, I'm dead before I can even hit the F key :)

all you really gotta remember is the ^M for the return key, the rest are the commands from the menu, like I said, there is a pause key but I can't remember it :)
