Hi everyone! I just joined the forums. I used to run a WWIV BBS with TW2002 back in the early to mid 90's.....I love the game but haven't played it in years. Cleaning off an old PC, I came across my old bbs and tw2002.....since finding it, I have really been wanting to play a good game of TW...so here I am! Any good games out there? Although I am very rusty, I'll have to brush up on my game. Well I just wanted to say hey and do an intro.

Do you still BBS? I only know of a few local boards still online. Most of them have TW2002 V1.X or some older version.

Get SWATH, but J-TWAT is free and does not limit scripts:

J-TWAT requires Java, does not load saved games without crashing.

Also ATTAC http://www.tw-attac.com/ needs registration or else scripts stop after 30 cycles or so.

Also learn TWX http://www.twxproxy.com/ it is a proxy program that J-TWAT or SWATH can hook into via the loopback 127.0.0.1 address. ATTAC never locks you out for not registering, so ATTAC can be used as a terminal to TWX if SWATH locks you out after 30 days and you cannot afford to register it yet. Beware that ATTAC has some bugs that need working out, but works fine as a terminal.

I am trying to set up training games for my local friends who want to play Tradewars, so far TraderJoe and CRomp offered to host the games based on edits I created on their servers. If you want to join, let me know.

We also got a local St. Louis Traveller RPG game going on. If interested send me an email.

I did not know there were other St. Louis TW players out there besides the people I knew. I was SYSOP of The Pentagon BBS for a few years, also CO-SYSOP on a few other WWIV boards like The Hellfire Club, Longships, Pair Of Dice, and a few others I cannot think of right now. :)

J-TWAT does NOT crash on me. I NEVER have any trouble with it. Only bad thing is sometimes it doubles all the characters on screen when you are using it with TWX...double vision kinda thing. The ONLY issue I have with J-TWAT is it's limited scripts, but I LOVE macroing and doing blue tasks with it.

Hey Orion, I remember Hellfire club..wasn't on it much though..Unfortunately most if not all of the BBS'es that I was on have closed...sad isn't it? I love the net, but BBS'es were just cool as hell...I miss them. I log on to the Fire Escape BBS once in awhile, they are still around, but not much going on there! Most others are history. I was known as (Sagitarian, Scavenger, Barfly)...usually just Sagitarian or Sag for short. I was a CO-Sysop on The Conduit (aka Luminesent Conduit)..I ran the files and games sections. I also had my own BBS "Scavenger Den"..unfortunately we went down after about a year, I just couldn't afford the cost at the time..a life on food stamps will kill you when your married, have a kid, work all day and go to school all night!! (Priorities ya know) If you get a local game going let me know, I'm going to take some time at first to learn how to use SWATH/TWX so that I can compete. Traveler RPG...that's a game from the past! I miss LORD alot, and play it once in a while on Eagles Dare BBS, you can get to it on the web at: http://smmu.frad.org/ or telnet at: bbs.filenet.wwiv.net (there is a jave telnet from the web site) Well I have to go eat something, I'll be back on later.

Hellfire Club was one heck of a BBS. Sebastian Shaw was a very good friend of mine. He died in May 1999, and I miss him very much. One heck of a good Tradewars player, we founded The Travelling Hit Crew and I still use that name on Corps that I start. I am trying to get the band back together and recruit some of my old Corpmates to learn the new TWGS system.
