Listen-

Unlimited turn games are meant to be quick games, for those of us that have limited time. (Players with lifes)

Do us all a favor, lose the Truces.. If your gonna bang an unlimited turn game, be prepared to bang it again a few days later.

I don't have time to script 24/7 pop in for an hour and kill someone, then go thru my mail log when I get disconnected.

If you want a game to last a few weeks, or a few months, then lower the turns.. Owning a unlimited turn game, with a truce, is accually rather noobish.

Want a noob game?

1k sectors 250 turns

Old school.. This doesn't give scriptors an upper hand, and lets the noobs learn, the hard way.

noobs can't learn in an unlimited turn game, truce or not. A noob cannot build resources in an unlimited turn game as fast as a seasoned veteran, or anyone with a few decent scripts.

I'm playing 3 low turn games right now (Yes, those of you who know me are probably surprised) but I'm having FUN!

Here's a good forumula for sysops:

unlimited game + truce = NO FUN
game + truce = NO FUN
Unlimited game = YAY!
Game = YAY!

If your going to continue to run games with truces, make a set of rules, and MAKE SURE YOUR USERS READ THEM- And please make sure you have the time to enforce these rules.

Well Grazhoppa that may be your oppinion. However, that my not be everyones. Before you or anyone starts a game make sure that it is to your liking. If it isn't don't play. But just because you believe one way, doesn't mean that others feel the same. I myself don't like truces. However on my server you will find both games, truces and with out. For the most part, I try to have games for everyone.

Just (again) my $.02

I agree, truces are bad. This is because I usually break them since I never know (remember I guess) when truce is up.

Truces are bad because they are hard to enforce. Plus people do stuff like leave defensive fighters in major trade lanes, or create NavHaz, or leave mines, or InterDictor other people. Then egos get bruised and people get upset. Then it stops being a game, and turns into a Soap Opera with people complaining to the GameOP or airing their problems on the Tradewars Forums.

No it wasn't me who Lawnmowered your sector fighters, must have been my evil twin. No wait, it was the script, yeah that's the ticket. I was so busy making out with Nurse Betty I forgot to turn the attack script off. Julia just said the baby wasn't mine, it was Ralph's, so it couldn't have been me who violated the truce. I complained to the GameOp via ICQ, made a public post about it, and now all of my private messages to the GameOp are on the Tradewars Forum thread I created.

Remember folks, it is just a game. If you don't like a certain server or the game settings, just stop playing, move on, and find a server that you like. Plenty of them out there, room for everyone. Not everyone is going to like seeing players whine and complain about a game or server or GameOp. If things don't work out and you are losing, you have the option to quit. Remember that the server is owned by the GameOp and not you. Unless you are paying to play, you don't have much to gripe about, it is their server and their rules and they enforce those rules the way they want to. If you don't like it, quit and play elsewhere. Just do people like me a favor and after you quit, don't drone on and on about it in the public Tradewars forums. I use the Forums to learn more about the games, to see what games are available, and to find out tips and hints from other players, not to read about a Soap Opera that happened on a TWGS Server. To me, that just adds a lot of noise to the conversation.

Oh yeah, if someone is cheating, get evidence before you accuse them publically. Get capture logs or something that shows they cheated. We really don't know what goes on in a game, esp if we aren't playing the same game as you. Not saying anyone is cheating or not, just that I haven't seen anyone who accused someone else of cheating back it up with evidence yet.

Hey Grazhopper I think your right. Truce's are for people that cant play well. I never played a truce game untill I recently started playing twars again and I found out most twars players turned into script playing wussies. So to keep up with the fads I have to get some scripts. With scripts come people why you need truces? Go figure.

Remember the good old days when no one heard of a truce and you got in and played and then tried to get the other players? It seems truces are just to coddle the peeople who cannot play that well, which is fine with me.But maybe a sysop can make a game for noobs that have a truce and one with no truce.Different times ,but you get the idea. And Aesso youre right,It is a battle of the scripts now.But I think there are a few games out there that say no scripts allowed.

This is what people like..
Newbie Games..
Newbies like it cause they can do anything they want and have to spend no time doing turn management..
VetMorons like them cause they can kill newbies in fully loaded ships and feel all warm and fuzzy..

At the end of the day it's down to the players to dictate what the server runs, If you dont like it dont play there..
If enough people quit playing there then the op will either change the rules to meet the demand of the players or they will close the board..
Either way is fine to me..

Well major payne.. I hate to burst your bubble, but it doesn't seem like alot of people have love for truces, go figure.

I also found it surprisingly funny that after you said you were done with truces, you banged another unlimited turn with a truce.. Whats the word for that again? ;)
