I know this is way off topic, but I've gotta bitch at somebody about it, and this forum was in the window when I did the calculations.
I just got my grades for this first 6 week session of summer. In my stats class, I went into the final with a 91.5 and perfect attendance. I felt I had aced that final. I had a sheet of equations in front of me, for cryin out loud. The thing was easy. I get my grades and I've got a B. A B?! You've got to be fuckin kidding me. I just did the math on my grade and it turns out I needed a 74.5 on the final to get a 90 in the class. I know I didn't get that low on it. Even if I got a 74, it should have been a B+. If that's the case, then to get a regular old B, I would have gotten a 66.5 or lower. I did not fail that final. I cannot see any concievable way in which I failed it. That's silly.
He normally grades on a 500 point scale. That is, (total points from everything before the final)+(the final)= z and z/500= your grade. If I set up the equations on a 500 point basis, things begin to make a bit more sense: I would have had to have a 116 to get an A in the class. To get a B, I'd need a 90. That, I think, might be the problem.
I'm gonna go see him on monday. Stay tuned.
