Could some one wiser than I please answer these questions?

Does ship delay also involve planet/port trading? i.e will it take longer to buydown if ship delay is active?

And also another question can a game have 1 way warps that no one can use because I ztm'd this game and cleared out all voids and have a handfull of sectors that say no warp within 45 sectors.

The sectors are probably broken links within the game or it could be that the max warps have been changed after the bang to a smaller number (think that is the effect).

For the ship delay question, if I recall correctly planets are not effected by the delay settings at all, and ships are only delayed when moving from one sector to another or when TransWarping.

As one of the few that ever uses this setting, I figure I can give the definitive answer.

No, buydown is not affected by ship delay, because porting, landing, and takeoff are not delayed based on this setting. The only delays are sector-to-sector warping/transwarping and attacking (powering up weapon systems). Both delays are your ship's TPW multiplied by the ship delay setting (i.e. a 4TPW ISS in a Quarter delay game would take 1 second (4 * 1/4) to move one sector or launch an attack wave). I'm fairly certain (though I'm not at home so I can't test at the moment) that use of a planetary transporter has a delay equivalent to a 1TPW ship (since it costs one turn to use). Nothing else is delayed though; ship transport, planetary twarp, landing, takeoff, porting, etc. are all instant (or as instant as non-delay; nothing is truly instant as Traitor will attest [:)]).

This can be caused by convoluted bang settings with a lot of one-way and/or very few two-way warps, which is causing some sectors to be more than 45 sectors away from some other sectors. Try plotting to/from the "disconnected" sectors from various destination sectors and see if any of them find a route. If they don't, the sysop may have edited the warp links and created some black holes by mistake. I've never seen a case where bigbang actually missed connecting a sector, at least not in any recent versions.

[^]Also a point to make is some sysops make a black hole or two in a game on purpose,[:P] but I try to stay away from them myself, also some of the TWA's that sysops have, might have black holes in them and the sysop now aware of them. I got an edit once that had dozens of them and it like took me forever to get the game straightened out enough to play good.

Planetary transporters have no delay assesed to their use. As to the warps question, this will often happen in games with large gold bubbles. It appears that the gold bubble creation routine ignores the max warp checks, resulting in sectors that can be too far away to plot courses to them. This happens more frequently in games with large tunnels on gold bubbles. As an interesting side note, if a ship is greater the max warps hops away (in this case, say 46 hops away), any ship can xport to/from it, including pods. It is treated as though it is in the same sector as your ship in terms pof xporting.

Sounds like a bug to me. I can see all the game editors jotting that down. Especially someone as devious as Vader.
