Without getting into a long debate about the ethical aspects of large games, I have a proposition for the community. Most Majors and Large style games including drafts generally or least historically end up in turmoil. There always seems to be some sort of controversy. Now, I have not spent the time to search through the EIS forums and gather them all. But have either been a part of the game in question, or read about it right here in these forums. Our most recent incident was during the still ongoing game over at Vader’s Server – Black Sun TWGS (Dupe Chess). Our infamous friend Ender (Known for his loose lips) claimed Info Sharing, which has since been overturned by Vader himself. Stick with me… I know this is getting long. If you were to go back and read through the most recent (last year or so) threads, you would probably find claims of Cheating, Duping, Info Sharing or all of the above, robbing the eventually winners of their rightful claim to victory. So, in an effort to organize, execute and crown a winner with as little controversy as possible I put forward a suggestion we hold a Large Solo Game. Edits are up for debit. No more whining about stacked teams, bad draft orders or having to play multiple accounts. It is you vs. everyone else. No bull****, No excuses, just Tradewar’s. Here is an opportunity to clear up any aged feuds you may have with other players. So post in this thread your interest in playing, and preferred edits. Hell, be a man and call out that trader you’ve been feuding with and would most like to play against and defeat. You will require Game knowledge, a strategic plan and a flawless execution to win. Show up, Shut up and play. Let’s see who can stand on his own two feet. Zoso |

Personally I hate Solo games. I play for the fun of playing with others. So in general not interested. As a side note. While every tournament has these problems, people still play. The reason is, tournaments are were you find the real fun and competition. Smacking around weaker players is never compared to the fun of big game play. Jhereg |

nod i agree.. i would rather play a big tourney with big corps and have a little controversy than play solo.. i would like to see another draft game.. guess thats just me |

Zoso I belive that a solo game solves much, if you can pick out the right edits. See these days it doesnt matter if were to say call out Psion, and challange him to a 1v1 game, or even a solo trading game, he would back down for some reason or another and that would be the end of that. I could cuss at him, and try to goude him into it but it still problly wouldnt happen. I could call out Godzillia and tell him that I wanted to take him on 1v1, and he would say something to the effect, I dont have to prove myself to you, your just a noob, and everyone knows it. So I say, I'm up for a solo game, use some nicely balanced edits, or maybe you can create some new edits on your own. The former Blast Off Tournament, when I hosted it, had about 30 peps signed up, and more were signing up everyday. SO what I say to you is create the edits, the game name, maybe find some prizes from those willing to donate, now that TWX is open source, it really doesnt matter anymore, but still ATTAC and SWATH have great products, try getting one of them to donate something. Everyone likes prizes. And host you a solo tournament, maybe bracket style like I did, or maybe just one big massive solo game. I'm up for it, and I here by call out Psion and Godzillia, you both love to run that mouth, lets see how many excuses it takes when I beat you in a solo tourny. |

? Did you bother to read my post? I'm not a fan of solo games. And before you say it, no I'm not "finding an excuse". If you had bothered to read my post, you would know that I don't like solos. Very convenient of you to challenge me to a game I already said I wasn't interested in. A corp game? We can talk. But lets get something clear, its not about who is or isn't a noob. What it comes down to is that you're a jerk. I don't have anything to prove to you and I'm not overly inclined to play a game against you when I'm sure it will merely be a medium for you to be rude and foul mouthed over Fed. If you can be civil (which I doubt) we might be able to put a game together. If you will be yourself, then I'm not interested. |

Solo games like this will have just as much controversy as big games. lets say 40 people sign up. day 8 Uncle Sam grids by your base. day 9 Jhereg invades it. now, you, having your base invaded are mad. you also are wondering what went wrong, how did it happen? how did Jher know where you were? hmm... Uncle Sam is his perma corpie.... CHEATER!!! and a new thread starts on EIS. (the thought that it was random chance, or that jher had known where it was for a while will never cross your mind) Ender, if you get someone to accept your challege, i'll host it. and if no one accepts, you can challenge me, and i'll accept. no one ever accepted mine either.
Slim (p.s. i dont do unlims anymore, i've had some long talks with xide pre-release of his wsst, and its ridiculous) heh, i remember when he first used it against me, i #sd#'d him while he was doing it, he had run it for 45 minutes and had 250M+ on him
it was right after extern too, he was so mad, hehe. ahh, i miss xide. |

Psion, I would be willing to be civil. I know that you dont like solo games, I read your first post, but I believe that solo games are a true test of trade wars skill. You have to run all aspects of your game, and that makes it the only true test of will and power. I think that this game should be called Armagedon, and it should be a solo bracket, but then thats just me. And Slim, if I dont find any challangers, I would be happy to die at the end of a photon from your ship. |

I'm of the opinion that teamwork is actually the most important TW skill. You don't have to be the best gridder/hunter/killer/casher/farmer to be a good player. A strong team can easily beat a team of "pros" who don't work together. Solo games are more about keytime than skill in any case. On a side note, I'm disinclined to believe that you can be civil. More and more I'm coming to understand Traitor's point of view on choosing games. |

Psion, I beg to differ. You can have both, it just takes a while longer. For anyone who thinks that Solo's are for either noob's or those who don't understand the game, you are truly mistaken. And if you still don't beleive me, then I play most decent edits Solo's. Come on out and see how you fair? My ICQ and email are readily available Solo's are the purest form of this game that is left. They resemble the original method much closer than any other type of game today. |

Like any other side of TW game, solos have their ups and downs. They're just not my cup of tea. I really enjoy the team dynamic in a good TW game. |
