i just have a question. wtf is with all these 20k universes everywhere? i havent seen a game banged with under 20k sectors in forever... regardless of the turn limit for the game!!
playing an 800/1k/2k/4k whatever turn game... how many people really want to play it in a 20k universe? i'd much prefer a 5k uni, maybe a 10k. but for crying out loud sysops. i lied, slag banged moon patrol 1k/5k but im gone this weekend so not joining anygames. however, i'd like feedback from players wether they really like playing 20k universes (low turns)(if you are unlim player, dont bother commenting :P) or wether you would prefer a smaller universe. maybe also add why so ops can read this and say, "ohhh, man i feel bad for making them play a 20k sector game"
there really is nothing wrong with them, they are just so big, and they are all i've seen lately/played lately so i thought i'd comment.
anywho, if you are just a passing by player who doesn't care, pay this no mind, its just little ole me ranting, heh.

I enjoy 5k-10k sized games about 1k turns. The smaller games tend to move a bit faster and people have a harder time hiding so the game might end a little faster most before 30 days is up. I have found that 20k games are just to big for turn based playing the game usually gets boring before anyone wins because its so easy to hide in a 20k universe especially when you only have a hand full of players in the game.

Any more 20k games don't last long enough. With some of the scripts that are out there a 20k game is over in a few days at most if anybody good is playing. Would really love to see John do between 50k to a 100k universes.

i believe i said many times that this is about low turns. not unlim turns. if you play 20k uni's where the game is over too soon and you are playin low turns... well you are playing by yourself.

Slim, it really depends a lot on the other game settings. 20k can be a lot of fun with the right edits.

I would rather play in a 10k, 750 turn game. Give or take 250 turns.

I like the 20k Uni's slim..... One of the only things making some of the games last for any length of time really, it does give peeps time (and Space) to hide, I usually play 2000 to 4000 turn games though and it works out real good for me. I, like someone else before me in this thread would actually like to see a 50,000 or even a 100,000 sector galaxy. I think it would make for longer, and better games. Hey, but i'm somebody that remembers games that lasted 6 months to a year, and those were FUN!!!

I've always played 20k sector games with 1200 to 5000 turns and quite like them.. get at least 8 to 10 active people in the game and it's not too big; there are plenty of ways to find people.

Having said that, I'm quite enjoying the 900 turn 5k sector game I'm playing in and will be looking for more low-ish turn few sector games in the future. It _is_ a much faster game than I'm used to though, full of #SD#ing and base invasions.. (sorry guys.. <grin>)

It really is just personal preference though, so like Vader said.. there are plenty of sysops around, some of whom have even posted that they're willing to take personal requests, so just fire off an email. Otherwise, I think sysops are more likely to bang what they perceive to be most in demand or the sort of game that interests themselves.

well im playing in a 2v2 800 turn 20k uni game... with new slow edits... heh the game will never end 10k or 5k would be much nicer :)

5 K sectors with 2000 turns gives you time to get things done in a day, but the excitement of knowing that you could be found very easily indeed by an enemy.
