Since when is it okay to blockade an entire 20k sector universe except for the major space lanes with figs? Not only does that kind of play seriously turn off new players, it's pissed off an old one.
I won't even mention the BBS name, but I'll never be going back to it!
After being away from TW2002 for a couple of years I may not know alot of people who play, I might not be up on how to make 280 million in six hours, but you'd better believe that if asked I can tell you where NOT to play.

Valid tactic. Sounds like an old game/unlimited game. Check the message boards for new rebangs. Somebody point him to a lower turn game just starting up...

I know exactly what game your talking about yoohoo.
First of all, Drunk boy did not have that Darn many sectors full of tolls as you say he did. Second, drunk boy is now dead in that game and my corp has about 10 times as many tolls out there as he did....and it still is not that much. Third, this is a common tactic and you will find this in any game that has an experienced player in it, even if the game is only a few hours old. Fourfth...why the hell would you quit playin on a server just because someone pissed you off in one of the games??? There are currently 2 more games to choose from there.
Did you know you now have a 70mil credit bounty on your head in that game, hehe...I take it you were killing drunk's toll figs =). Thanks from everyone in that game for the align boost. Your welcome to come back maybee me and D will teach ya the modern way to play.

it might be a common tactic, but it's one that's new to me. Also, I've got to remember to chuck things like "fair" play out the window when I play and expect that everybody else has done the same. That AND the fact that my first post was written right after one of the fig killing episodes might clue you into the mindset I had (If you've ever seen a grown man stomp around like a three year old who's been denied a cookie you'll know what I mean.)
I got over it all really quick afterwards

Now you're getting the hang of it! The more paranoid you are that someone is waiting to drop in on that fig in the next sector, or is waiting to torp you outside SD, the better off you'll be. Trust no one, take what you can get, and leave "fair play" for the tiddly winks.

Hehe...as far as fair play goes, if it is not bug related or the use of dupes, anything is fair.
Now ya just gotta worry about who is Butthole enough to attack new players soon as the enter the game. I personally don't myself, id rather give them a fighting chance, let ya build and make some cash. But then ya do have those who show no mercy. Just gotta know when to holdem and when to foldem.

If your lookin for fair play and all that crap, stay away from unlimiteds A lot of unlimiteds that I seen are full of cocky assholes and even some folks that will stab you in the back in a heartbeat Also, without a lightening fast TWX script your a sitting duck in those games anyway

Camaro is right -- a lot of new players are drawn to unlimited turn games for some reason, bust those games give a big advantage to players who 1) have specialized scripts and 2) are there right when the game opens. They leave little margin for error. I think low turn games are a better place for newbies to learn the ropes ... if you can, check out the rebangs section of the forum for a game that has less than 800 turns a day and I think you'll find a game that is more to your liking.

I disagree. Unlimteds and high turn high sector games are for newbies.. that's why I stick to 5k sectors and low turns.. heh OLD school.. when a newbie thinks he's hot crap or these folks that play unlimited or high turned games with mass sectors think they are godlike.. then they get into a low turned 5k sector game they get SMOKED.. turn management is the key
As for playing and stuff.. takes a lot to get me motivated to play anymore.. that and it's hard for me to sit up still so I play one maybe two games to stay "fresh" other than that I gotta be really motivated to play.. and lately nothing motivates me.

OMG hehe I do know what you guys are talking about but there are VERY MANY ways around the "lay a fig, lay a mine, lay a limpet" type scripts out there.
You just have to be more creative in your gameplay and seriously, if you are persistent enough.... you'll never hit one of their limpets or figs again unless you actually want or have to.
I'm not kidding!

I personally don't see the point in attacking someone who just logged in. I want the money you have, and the experience.

I am not a wonderfully talented player....but if im in a game and someone attacks a newb for no reason or that they are bored or they are cocky....then that person is on my blacklist and I WILL get them back for their behaviour!

Who you calling old? DIE OFF?? The game's only been around for ~10 years... I played in high school... so I'm not that old.
I know there are some crusty old traders out there... not mentioning any names...
