Thank you, Slim. Honestly I expected quite a bit of flamage headed my way. The game seems to have changed quite a bit. When I played last, I don't remember even macros being in use, certainly not by those I knew. My viewpoint of the current state of TW's IS based only on what I've read here, and may be erronous, I'll readily admit. By the merits of what Is to be read on the boards, though, you may understand the dim view on the game i'm developing, at least insofar as a newcomer or returning player is concerned.

BTW, my apologies for posting my statement in what started as a totally unrelated string, but I found many of the statements being made extremely insulting to those who simply enjoy<ed> a different style of play. On reflection, I shouldn't have done the same, myself.

Welcome back. There are still a few of us who actually still play, we get our butts handed to us on a frequent basis and if we open our mouths in the forums we get toasted by not just the "in" bot and script crowd but by moderators as well.

I expect to see a day when you are banned from systems for expressing an upopular opinion here and elsewhere Honestly I do.

But I digress. I think you're assessment of the situation is pretty accurate and I do play all the time at most of the popular systems.

I've said it before and I'll say it again you to can get these scripts/Bots. C'mon SGO you can't sit here and rag on something you to can do. Well ya can but I see no point in it. Any computer game worth a crap these days costs money. Pay for a helper and get on all these players level. The scripts/bots are there. Pay a few bucks and you will have the same "cheats/advantages" everyone else in this game does. I member my dad saying nothing in life is free. Since he showed me tw he shoulda said nothing in tw is free. Or you can surf for servers that bang games with lil comp and few turns/mins online and live in the old days. It is America so I see no reason you aren't entitled to your opinion, I just don't understand it. We all love this game in our way. Maybe your fond recollections of the old days is your way. The real players of today play in the new format of bots are allowed and duping is not. I see no point in holding on to the old ways myself. I played back in the day, it sucked. At least compared to todays tw it sucked. I like the changes that this game is will and has taken. To me you act like the old days are gone because of scripts/bots. That is not the case IMO as the game has evolved as have the players. The game today is about who loves tw the most. Do you have the time/money it takes to be a REAL player or do you wanna be a lowkey player who plays his type of games for your own reasons? It is up to every person to decide this. I just don't see a reason for knocking the game as it has evolved today because you lack the time/knowledge/money to play this game to the fullest extent it is capable of being played. Stick to games you like, it is a game even though some people treat it as more. Just my opinion like it or not

raticus: you say it like you see it, i hold nothin against you. twars is still a very fun game to play. if you are interested in learning about the new changes etc.. and maybe getting back into it and see what it really is like i would be more that willing to get into a private game, show you the ropes, explain anything you need, teach you all i know, then point you towards someone who knows more, hehe.

you will also find that if you join some games and talk to others, there are very many people who are more than willing to help new people out. (i know, they helped me)

It took me until 2003 to get a helper! I played by hand until then. It was my dream to still compete without a helper. I found that was just that... a pipe dream.

Now, I guess I'm doing the same thing with bots/advanced scripts, dreaming of competing anyway. It's probably an even bigger delusion, but let me keep my delusions for a little while longer, I'm old and old dawg!

out of curiosity, what's an 'advanced' script?
i dont play unlims that often, but my impression is there are only a handful of scripts you need to stay on par resource wise, and none of them are 'that' advanced - all are freely available or bundled with twx (which is a standard helper)

some ppl may have better / faster versions of those scripts, but you should still be able to compete - all else equal.

What version of twx do you have, is there a new one? I just downloaded mine last month and I have a registered copy, and none of the bot scripts are in there, there's no photon move, no attack scripts of any kind, no planet drop, all of the scripts you need to survive against an "elite" corp in an unlimited turn game.

Most of the scripts that come in the package with twx are things that a standard helper does (with the exception of WorldsSSM.ts and WorldTrade.ts).

Shrug.

photon move - i know there's a custom SWATH photon move (i think it sucks) and revhelp has one (ZOC), there might not be a public twx one... but its a really simple script, id be happy to share mine

planet drop - http://www.damageunlimited.com and http://www.scripterstavern.com have free planet-drops (standard-direct, i think) , CK's combat pack (pay to use) tavern.homeip.net - has a planet drop with multiple features

We have a pdrop available on our website. Supg does to. FREE, heh. No twx doesn't come with any offensive scripts but that is not what ty was refering to. I don't think, maybe he was. CK has some very good offensive scripts available. For a price, but they are very nice and worth the price. They are out there, but nothing is free. As for your dream sgo that gave me a kick heh. Would be funny to lose a unlim game to a person playing by hand heh.
