Best place to find the going price of the complete set of AD&D books is at Ebay. Wouldn't suprise me if Vader might already have one. [;)]

Well FC if you have all the 1 and 2 manuals and accomliments to them and they are all original, and not 2nd or 3rd prints or so, then they may be worth a pretty penny to a collector. Also they are expensive even on the reg market to get them all. I know I have the full set of them all up to the new 3.5 editions. I spent more money on that game than I ever have on TW, and everyone wonders why players return to TW, I think it is the price tag, and players too.LMAO But seriously any game can get expensive to keep on top of things. And TW is no different. Just gets that way in a different way, and not so expensive on the pocket, thats why I will keep coming back.

Me thinks this thread is kaput , but i feel a need to post a BS post.Gualala if you are not the sysop , then STFU ,I understand and agree with having a game jus for the rusty old timers and n00bs , but post the dang rules.On the 4Exiles server i cosysop , we clearly post all our rules and game description on our website ,and no gold aliens lol.We even have a game devoted to n00bs , but we also have several more to cater to other tastes and playing styles.As for ice9 server...never been there but from the sounds of it , it is a little messed up.I hope you guys figure things out , and diversity is the best route to take, cuz if you don't no one will play on your server.

Actually from what I've seen so far of the sysOp's actions on ICE9, he/she tries to run a pretty good server. There seems to be a lot of newbies that whine and cry when hit, but they are the ones that need better players there to help them learn a bit. I've seen some dupes on there and several were removed by the Op.

Trouble is, a single player can sometimes give a board a bad rep and a bad situation like casperokc ran into makes it even worse.

There are three games on ICE9 right now - one a building game (don't ask me, cuz I don't know), a kill 'em all game, and the closed game that I got in that had a lot of confusion. I podded people, but I think it is to the sysOp's credit that since there were no specified rules on the server, he/she didn't delete my player.

ICE9 did do something that all servers should do - post the rules on the server and not on a website. It doesn't take that much work to put everything accesible under the ! command. If someone comes in off of a Stardock search, then they see there are rules and they easy to get to and read - no excuses.

As i said , I have not played ice9 server......so i am unaware of how well it is maintained...i was trying to give some helpful advice , we are a family , we need to help out fellow sysops/cosysops , and i hope no one judges ice9 because of this thread , because i haven't......We have our game rules posted on our furom , but perhaps we will add them to our main menu for ease of use.

As far as noobs whining and crying about getting hit, its the sysops response to this that can set the tone of the game/server. I've had plenty of people come to me complaining that they were blown up for no reason or whatever, and i kindly explain that in most cases this is the nature of TW. The whining from people comes from their lack of understanding as to how the game is played, thinking its all kisses and hugs. Somehow, hearing from a sysop that thats not the case, generally opens their eyes. Just my .02.

ICE9 normally runs 3 building games and 3 unregulated games. Currently there is only one of each. There is no need to be confused go to http://www.oregonsouth.com/ice9 and scroll down to the yellow writing. Its clear and concise. You can also see it by pressing ! From the main ICE9 menu. I understand that many here will find the building games less than appealing but I believe there is a place for them. There are plenty of people who show up at ICE9 that have neither the time or desire to learn to play the game the way many top players play it today. They just want to play the game they remember when they logged on to their local BBS 7 10 or even 15 years ago. Anyone who for one reason or the other does not care for such limited games are welcome to play the unregulated games. Its only when people join the building game with the attitude that they should be able to play the way they want to that I step in. For a game to be fair all players must play by an equal set of rules and when those rules are disregarded then an unfair advantage exists.

You would think by reading some of these forms that I get lots of unhappy comments and emails but surprisingly I do not. Most of the time it only happens when someone tries to take the advantage descried above. We have a good player base and while like any board we have our share of problem people from time to time most are happy with the set up and the speed of the server. Its far from the biggest server out there but we have enough players to keep it consistently interesting.

I am the Sysop of ICE9 and I speak through no one on the board or in these forms. If anyone tells you otherwise I suggest you turn off fedcom and go about your business. If you think they are out of line I suggest you email me, my address is everywhere on the board and the web site. I answer all my mail and try to clear up any problems quickly and non politically

Well It happened to me.
I am in here in the building game and some bozo named frozone blocks dock with 1000 off figs and says he can because I killed 1 fighter, a def in space.
Then when I say read the rules, he whines.
What has this game come too?
Play by the rules that are marked or dont play.

I say kill em all, and let God sort out the rest, j/k
