You might ask Snow White about KAWFEE if you not played with or against her?

Yup... and if you ever run into a game with Snow White in another corp you might as well bend over and kiss your butt goodbye most of the time as she has the hunter/killer instincts fairly polished...oh yeah...also has her scouting down to a science instead of an art! [;)]

laughing at myself.......still don't have time to write
spent only 2 hours at the drug store yesterday....they are now online so I was able to get a whole month supply of my medicine
What I want people to understand is that we are among the extremely fortunate. Our home is in livable state as far as we know. There is no one right now to check the structure so we are a tiny bit concerned that there could be unseen problems. We lost shingles, a small bit of decking, windows blew out, the ceiling in the bathroom leaks (but it's over the tub) there are water spots in at least one other room. Most of the wet stuff we threw out consisted of boxes of year books, toys we'd saved for our children, yarn I hadn't used in years, etc. We have some furniture and appliance damage.......all of this is extremely minor.
Our family is all safe. That is what matters to us. But we are unable to help them clean up, salvage, box up and move things. You see, our very fortunate family lost THINGS. My single sister lost the entire roof of her house. It will have to be gutted, but she was able to get a storage shed to move the things that the rain didn't destroy. What people don't see from a distance is that absolutely everyone here has damage, loved ones who lost everything, extended families living in the houses that are livable. Whole church communities were wiped out...so there is little time for anyone to lend a helping hand. My husband and I have only been able to go to my sister's house two times to load up our car as best we could and then unload it into a corner of one of our rooms. She has had some help from friends and church members but mostly she has had to do this alone. Even after 9 days, there are things in that house that could be saved if only there were hands to carry it.
My daughter and her husband had water about 6' into their house. Fortunately, before they evacuated they left her car at our house. She literally kissed it good bye. From Atlanta, they saw ariel views of the damage and were able to spot the roof of their place. They were elated. That house didn't get water during Camille so they thought it had been spared. Three days later, we got word to them about the water. They came to salvage what they could, dug with shovels, pitched debris, and left with everything they own in their two cars. They had no flood insurance. BTW, redneck kitten, they are both grads of U of L and are heading there to live with Allen's family for a while.
My son and his girlfriend spent hours and hours moving things into their attic before they left. During CAmille, that house got about 4' of water so they expected water. They didn't expect that the water would cover the roof of the house tho. They are finding it extremely difficult to go back because they were not able to take all of their pets with them when they left. They have found and buried one cat. They cannot even push the doors open to look in most rooms. They salvaged their bicycles from the garage and have a group of friends going there tomorrow to see if there is anything else. They had no flood insurance. Because my son used our address for everything..his bank account, his paychecks and bills, etc., he cannot even show that he lived there and also lost everything....so he will not get any kind of public assistance either. The good news is that both of them have jobs to go to. The rest of us do not.
So.....what now? Thanks to two men from Georgia who made their way to a church about 70 miles from us that my cousin (living in Arkansas) once attended, we have tarps on our roof and windows covered with plywood. This allows us to leave now. We don't really want to, but we have no choice since doctors offices aren't yet open and my son will be able to stay in our house once we get out of the way. So we are headed to the Seattle area to live with our daughter for a couple months.
I tell you about our situation only so that you might have a glimmer of what other families are going through. We have a constant reminder of how we have been blessed because only one block from our house is Reimann funeral home. In the first days they had 3 refrigerated tractor trailors sitting in their parking lot......that increased to 6. My son is attending a funeral today of a young man who suffered an clot to the brain during all this mess.
The help coming to our area from all over the country deserves more time. I am not for one second forgetting it.

Maggie, I don't know what to say. I want to say comforting things but how can I come up with the words? I am trying to imagine what you and your family are going thru but the worst diaster I have ever seen first hand was the F5 tornado in 1974 that rocked Louisville. Even a big storm like that only yields roof damage, windows, trees down - it wouldn't even hold a candle to Katrina. If your daughter and her husband need anything while they are in Louisville, let me know and I will do my best to help them out. Take care of yourself. And keep in touch!

Not Sure if you received my message thru ICQ Maggie, so I will post here-
I just wanted you to know that you and all the rest of the folks who have been affected by this horrible disaster are in my prayers. I am very glad you are ok and doing as best you can with all you have to deal with. Makes the rest of us feel very fortunate and blessed.
Unfortunately somtimes we take the everyday gifts that we are given like water, food, shelter and most of all family for granted. Its clearly an eye opener for all of us. If I can do ANYTHING please let me know.

Okay Maggie have a safe trip and be safe and God bless. We will be waiting to hear from you, and hopefully the others that were affected by Katrina. We wish you well from here.

Hi, everyone.
Made it to the Seattle area. It's wonderful to be with my daughter and her family.
The people in this area have opened their hearts to us. Two churches paid for our transportation and various friends of my daughter have helped in many ways. Several friends helped with a car wash fund raiser in the pouring rain. lol
Dinner Sunday was provided by neighbors, someone helped install electrical outlets in our new room, someone donated a dresser for our clothes and several have donated cash which we plan to use to help our children replace some of the clothes and personal items they lost.
I am keeping my eyes and ears open for a way to repay the kindness of the community.
Any word from Peacemaker?
After we settle into a routine you will see me in some games. Looks like I will have time on my hands for a couple of months at least.

Maggie I still haven't heard from Peacekeeper, and am getting worried about him, he was close to where Katrina hit at New Orleans. I hope he made it out okay and just haven't got ahold of us cause of power outage or something.
