Sounds fine except for the time limit part. There are people who inevitably have some AFK script running to P-Drop and photon people while they're watching TV or working or even sleeping. Putting a time limit on makes it more likely that when you see someone on-line, they're actually there and not just setting a trip-wire trap for you to run into and immobilize you while they're doing Tae-Bo in the living room.
Having a time limit, even if its 8 or 9 hours, will prevent most of that, because they can't sit on 24/7 waiting to photon or P-Drop you.
There are some people who think its fun and competitive to do that, but for some people, this might be their first real game, because so many of the turns based games out there only have 1-2 people in them. We're trying to craft a game that both experienced and newbish players will be able to enjoy. Not everyone can set their computer up to play 24/7, so why let anyone have that advantage?

lol so instead of figuring out how to beat a newbish pdrop you want to set a time limit? Pdrops and photons are part of the game, ever hear of a macro? people running afk scripts usually get burnt..
I hate time limits and would most likely not play with one.. but by all means go with the majority..

I'm small minded.

Not that i think 5k is the way to go.. seems a bit small for most games, but every once in awhile would be fun for a change..

If we can get people to agree on a starting edit, I can see changing the edit up for a second game. Getting everyone to agree with x sector with y moves can be done, but we can also give and take to change those.
The part that is interesting to me is starting out with something like MOO2 and going to a different edit for the second game with more/less sectors and the same for turns on a different server. I don't know the low-turn edits, but I remember someone mentioning the MOO2 edit in a previous post (river rat?).
One of the things I had put in a previous posts was a random corp/CEO assignment at game start using a script. Is there any interest in this? I don't mind trying to write a script or someone else can do it if there is interest.

How about this. People who want to vote on this, quote my text and edit the quotes to give your answers:
1) Sectors: 5k 7k 8k 10k
2) Turns 600 &nbs p;750 1000 1200
3) Corp Size 2 3 4
4) Time Limit: Yes No
A) 4 Hours
B) 6 Hours
C) 8 Hours
5) Turn Bank: Yes No
A) 2 days

7) Photons: Yes No

Aliens: Yes No
9) Edits: Moo2 Pirates& nbsp; Other:_________ &nbs p;
The only additions all of us seem to agree on are No Truces and Randomly generated corps once we’ve determined who all is playing.
Now I will respond to this first so you can all see what I mean. This will let everyone know how everyone votes and we'll use whatever comes up with the majority votes.

Just to ask, and this may be silly. I assume us SysOp's can play in these games, except when it's hosted on our server, correct? The reason I ask is I get little chance to play with other good players, and I'd like to learn so that I can be an effective teacher in the TWA OCS Server. However, I'm not worried if I can't play, and I certainly can understand NOT playing if my site is up for host rotation.

4 6 or 8 is the options for time limit if you want one? my god killian.. 4 hours????
I have played in games with 12-15 hour time limits and that was tolerable... i would simply never play in a game with a 4 hour time limit.. not my style or liking. As far as i knew not many players liked time limits..
Still want to get some good turns games going but im not sure we are on the same page..

Hey Prom I don't want MOO2 or pirate edits at all. What i think would be a good start game is a totally stock edits then we could progress from there. I mainly talking ship and planet edits make changes like 1 or 2 day bust clr no ship delay would liek to vary on mbbs and classic. I would volunteer to set up first game or could even use CtB edits as I will be gone a lot for next 3 weeks or so and won't have time to play.

Oh hell ya the sysops can play as long as its not on your server, so if its your turn for the rotation then u sit out, if its on anouther server you want in your in, why discriminate.
