Wow, can you believe they are actually busing victims from Jefferson Parish to California for shelter! They started arriving today.

Yeah...saw on news tonight that the 1st 100 arrived in San Jose with folks cheering the arrival! Day after hurricane hit Ed Schultz on talk radio spoke up and asked his listeners to offer shelter to families until they could return... (Google Ed Schultz) Seems like Americans are resonding to the needs of those in distress better than 'official efforts'.

I haven't heard anything from Peacekeeper yet, and from anyone else, I hope they all came out well, forget the material things, I hope they came out of it alive and kicking, we know Maggie is okay and haven't heard anything from the others. I am still having them in my prayers.

I see Maggie is safe and sound and posting away. Maggie I am glad to see you are back and running strong. My prayers are with you and Peacekeeper and anyone else out there in the hurrican zone. We had business colleagues down there in Louisiana and found out a couple of days ago that they are okay. We hope to do our part sending a crew down there to help rebuild as soon as we are able and we are praying for our friend delivering supplies down there. It may be corny but I wrote a song and would like folks to read it. It came with many tears...maybe its a girl thing but I know I was horrified and so touched by everyone down south. Sorry for the book!
Their Desperate Hour
By Rae Harp ( redneckkitten )
He looks out over the ruins that once were full of life
See the mourning on his face as he lets go of his wife
The children clung to him as they watched their mama die
He looks up to the heavens with tears in his eyes
Refrain The winds are gone, the rain’s moved on and misery’s left behind
The water floods in, sorrow sets in and there are more lives left to find
The siege begins, the fires rage the chaos is in power
But you can’t break their spirit, even in their desperate hour
She can’t see her future thru the rubble and debris
Wondering where her next meal is, despair is all she sees
She’s shuffled from place to place trying to find some peace
With the knowledge that her heart and mind will never be at ease
The people of a once great town are now in disbelief
They‘ve been travelin thru hell and back and cry out for relief
Leave our town alone they say as they see the crime and hate
It hurts to know what lies ahead for their future fate.
Stay strong and keep on praying and God will see us thru
Hold on to the vision of the night the fury blew
Help is on the way my friend but the road is hard and long
Clinging to you memories will help to keep you strong.

Outstanding beautiful song, Red! That's Emmy material there [;)] I am thinking perfect material for a band like Seven Mary Three.

Thanks Rexx, if it were a vanity thing I think I would be blushing but it is just a heartfelt thing. Unfortunately, I am not the hip chick and have never heard of Seven Mary Three. I am pretty much comfortable in my country roots. I actually sent it via email to Harry Connick Jr. just because he is a favorite of mine and I knew his roots are there and his interview on CNN actually inspired me to write it. He said the people of Louisiana were strong people with a fire inside them that would bring them all through this and they would rebuild their home and live there again because that is where their heart is. So there ya go... I would love for someone to pick it up and record it just to have it out there but I would not know where to begin. So until I can find out where to send it I will share it with friends. Thanks again Rexx!

Yes...Ed Schultz did open his doors...had made the decision before he called on others to do the same. He and his family left all options for the family to make their own decisions and the families daughter enrolled in the University of North Dakota yesterday.

Hi, everyone.
I just got electricity and want to thank everyone for their messages and concern. It means a lot to me that many of you care. There are many people here on the Mississippi coast who continue to need your prayers.
I hope to post here tomorrow, but first, I'm going to be enjoying sleeping inside for the first time in 9 days. Goodnight
maggie

Journal
Sept. 8, 2005
I have so wanted to be able to do this so that people can understand...and so I begin with little time to spare. I'll go backwards as soon as I am able.
We got electricity last night!!!! I woke early today feeling rested. Most mornings I've gotten off the mattress we put on our concrete porch before daylight, aching but always remembering how very lucky we are compared to many.
I made coffee.....YES!! Snow White.....kawfy!!!!! Came to my computer and chatted with some TW buddies. It means a lot to hear of all the concern, prayers and offers of help.
I just had a sink bath. One of the ironies I see......it took 4 days to get drinking water but now it is in abundant supply, and so I poured 2 whole bottles into a bowl and washed head to toe. Can't wait to shampoo my hair later today. Pure bliss to bathe and then be in air conditioning for a short while so that I don't feel immediately sweaty again.
9:52 a.m. Guess I have to put on dirty clothes (at least I have some) and head back to the drug store to stand in line for medicine. Luxurating in air conditioning this a.m. is going to cost me in longer lines but right now I'm thinking it's worth it.
Please tolerate my posts. maggie

Maggie, you go right on a post! Most of us were fortunate and just got some rain from the hurricane or wasn't bothered at all by it all with exception of higher gas prices thus far. You are going thru what we are reading about and watching on the news. Someone further up in the posts said don't believe everything you hear in the news, well, we have it first hand now from you. We are glad you are okay. I don't ever want to lose sight of what is truly luxurious and until I have to go thru something like you have, things like drinking a glass of water and having air conditioning is something I don't never worried about. Brings the big picture into perspective! Take care of yourself like we know you will!
