AS a Sysop and indeed the Sysop of the board that is the origin of this post, I have to say this is a double edge sword. I don’t like players such as Amy and would like nothing more than to toss such players however, the game in question is billed as an unregulated game. At ICE9 there are building games and unregulated games. The building games have guidelines that while not specifically mentioning such things as stealing corps, do talk about friendly play. I would and in fact have removed players from these games for such things as stealing corps. In the beginning ICE9 was all about building games however, and if you search these forms you finds the very arguments, many players simply do not want and indeed feel sysops have no place trying to regulate games. So I started some Unregulated games and in fact have on many occasions sent more aggressive people from the building games to these games with the promise of non interference. Now had I intervened and tossed Amy out and it was her who posted here you can bet that this thread would be twice as long about how as a sysop I had no right to do such a thing that was part of normal game play. Sometimes you just cant win and have to make the tough decision. When it happened I was quick to respond with the same explanation to Lewdpotato.

As the Sysop of ICE9 I do my best to supply a fun place to play. I have on more than one occasion argued for the right of such a board, geared at least in part to the more mellow and newer players, to exist. I do indeed keep an eye on the games as much as life will allow, and check in regularly. Some people im sure will tell you I butt into the building games to much but still others love to play them became it reminds them of the game in a simpler time. Because of that I have a large influx of new and returning old players. I do however also try to offer something for the more modern players, in fact I have a new game that is different, very different about to start on Aug 5th. Might be big, might drop like a lead balloon, but it is definably for more modern and aggressive players. It’s the first game I have ever announced on this or any form. The details will be posted Sunday night in the new games form. If you are looking for something fresh check it out.

anyjoe2000,

welcome to the club, as a sysop I know how you feel, and have to put up with the same thing too, and know too well the thin ice we have to tread upon when dealing with things like amy and the results of all of it, which is why I suggested what I did to the player, and hope he doesn't let the experience turn him away from the game but instead make him resolve to be better and get even some how and vindicate himself and his corp as well.

cybermouse. a year ago i couldn't even spell scripts. If you are willing to learn, jump in a game that has been going for awhile. after you've screwed up a grid someone will come along. talk with them and explain that you are a noob and want to learn about using scripts. Most time they will help you out. give you pointers. tell you where to find scripts. send you some,if you dont have scripts your missing the fun.
