We'll be on opposite sides of the track so to speak, everyone enjoying the type of game they like. I'm just asking for choices. That's fine, and if these new configurable delays that JP and Sing are working on end up panning out, it may actually be possible. Let's cross our fingers.

I think Sing is more looking to make certain that gridwars will still work balanced. Seperating game pacing from player ship delays may not be possible. I'm just waiting to see how this plays out if JP can seperate the two on a toggle. If anything, I think that sort of configuration will really help get players strategizing, giving them even more options to play with. However with that does come the very real unbalancing that some of these type edits can cause. That's why I asked about the TWA files. In the current TWGS JP does have one "stock" game pre-installed now. If there were some way to also pre-install "balanced" TWA files of the more popular edits I'm thinking that would help new gameops quite a bit. Give them a starting point to work from and then they can edit the games or the ships for their own unique game offerings. Much like you all now come back for the same TWA files now, only pre-load them in the new beta. I don't expect to see anything out of this release for Old School mode, looking forward to 4.0.

It won't matter if the game moves in terms of light speed or snail pace. There has to be balance between gridders and grid protectors, otherwise you'll find that that it's either impossible to build, or impossible to explore. That's what JP and Sing are working on, "balance". If they can achieve balance, these delays can be configured uniformly and possibly achieve exactly what you are looking for, a slower paced game.

Re: Something very odd just happened
I'd like to see a controlled balance. Right now, as CPUs get faster, the balance is trending to a 100 ping. But, 99% of the players in the game do not have a 100 ping. So you have really fast players with an unstoppable edge, and everyone else who can barely hit a thing.
Given how insanely important grid is in modern play (something I'd also like to get options to balance), this makes the game very fun for a few players, fun for people who can build corps and bot, and basically impossible for everyone else.
If we can get a balance at a higher ping, and control it regardless of CPU speed increases, then we can stabilize the server and make the game more fun for a wider number of players. A person with a 170 ping could have a chance to hit 1 in 10 shots, instead of 0 for 100 as it is now. Half the player base could enjoy small games again.

Re: Something very odd just happened
My fastest ping is in the 200 range and yes i don't shoot many direct adj torps. Basic gameplay has more to do with winning a game than ping. And bots are just remote script launching platforms. You could do the same thing easier with pc anywhere or other remote use software. My bot is more helper than bot but there have always been helpers in this game.
I am all for a slower more balanced game but the outcome of who wins the bulk of there games will doubtless not change much. Learning the basics of team SDT or how to SST other than turning on wsst can't be fixed on the server side.So lets not expect miracles. With the popularity of unlims with a certain crowd...especially returning players uncertain of there turn play..It would be nice to actually be able to stop the gridder so I hope JP finds an easy fix for that bug. If he does you might actually find me in the odd unlim.
