 Re: B.O.T.E. 2008 In Planning
I was under the impression Zoobar fell off the edge of the Earth. And honestly, its a TW game. Its beyond ridiculous we're having an argument over something that isn't copywrited nor trademarked. Since neither are anywhere near TW what difference would it make to them? I have multiple edits out there that people have changed. I guess you guys can sue RP if he changes BOTE. That would give some people a good chuckle.

It has nothing to do withthe edit,,,im sure if YOU are helping RP it will fine set of settings......The fight if you want to call it that is RP choosing to name his tournament the BOTE..Are all we now to expect that all Bote's are RP's from now until forever???? If the name of the tourny truley exists to belong to the community shouldnt they Vote?? I have a problem with his presumptive host....But ive already told him,,,and now YOU...and i everyone else who thinks this has to do with settings or a paticular edit,,,That is NOT what this is about BOTE's setting have never been static.

 Re: B.O.T.E. 2008 In Planning
I rarely make much fuss of myself these days and tend to stay away from the politics and the "scene". Been there done that and got to much important things in life. So why am I here posting this well simply this that Ibeen approached by numerous people whom I honor and respect. My understanding here is that someone is talking about arranging another BOTE and not following the traditions of BOTE. For some reason I become viewed as the spokes person for BOTE. Why you might ask that do not know me or the history of BOTE. I played in the first BOTE and was one of the players in the winning team. Bote ended up being hosted by Fament.com whom hosted the winning team. At this point I was sysop at fament.com and hosted the game for numerous years after this. When I didn't have time to maintain the bbs any longer arrangements where made whom to host the game the following year.
There been a few people as I said that approached me not to happy what of BOTE and this is NOT BOTE. There are traditions to follow. The game your planning is not BOTE. If you want a real BOTE following traditions I would be more then happy to host another BOTE.

/ MacAhan Team member BOTE 98 (first) winning team Fament.com Sysop fament.com Co-developer SWATH Not to mentionhttp://tradewars.fament.com/bote2000http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2001/ All of you who have known me more then 3 + years know That I don't hand out Free passes to Sysops..Don't Care who they are...Friend and Foe alike The GAME is the most important thing when it comes to Tradewars.....I have Held every Game Op and sysops Feet to the Fire on thier Rules and Settings and it didnt matter if they were TheRev. BadGir,l Gypsy, Vulcan or even most recently Runaway Proton......If they Screw it up im goona Yell about it....If they Screwed it Up And i felt it cost me some type of percieved advantage....Im Goona Rant and Rave Until Desert Fox cant Yawn Loud enuf...It's whay i do,,,,Don't let me play in your tournament if your not prepared to Walk the line.........
All of that being said...And none of u can deny it...I've played every Bote that Macahan Has hosted...
Macahans Rules Macahans Settings His Judgement to Enforce ,,,And there has been Tie's and outcomes neither of us has wanted to see ...BUT no one not once could cloud his judgement..I never had a Flame War over a Sysop matter in Bote...That doesnt mean he always made decisions i liked..in some cases the contrary..And if you Dont know History Go look it up......
But he has never had a issue and Since he is an internet provider his Server speeds in Kansas were Far superior to most others ...Even for people from the West Coast.
This is the person Who should Decide who is to host Bote and what its settings should be...
Not Some Guy that wants to redeem himself for screwing it up the year before...
And if this is a Community Game .,.....Let the Community Vote.....We now have a Option For BOTE and a Sysop of Tradition in the very tournament and not to mention the Resources and Experience Someone like Macahan brings to a Tournament like The Battle of the Elite...

 Re: B.O.T.E. 2008 In Planning
You do realize that w/ all the splits this way and that you're going to end up with no qualified sysops, hardly any players, certainly no decent team captains, and an edit that nobody can agree to. Who cares if it's "BOTE" or any other name, really? It's not like "BOTE" is magical or anything, heck it's practically cursed. I can only be thankful I avoided the last fiasco. I mean all those links are like 6, 7, 8 years ago. Most of those players are long gone, and the game has certainly changed. They are, to be blunt, irrelevant. All of this is.
Anyway... way to go guys. Keep up w/ all the B.S. It's just setting the tone for the game itself I guess, really makes ppl want to play.

 Re: B.O.T.E. 2008 In Planning
See, that's tradition too. And SG is all about tradition, so its just in line with it all. Isn't it great that all those wonderful old players passed us down such a great tradition?

Space Ghost wrote: Big D wrote: Sort of funny you said that SG because anything less than 2k turns without a time limit I won't play. In my opinion, anything less than 2k turns with no time limit is a turtle game. You run your turns then you sit with no turns the rest of the time watching your grid disappear until you have mobile planets then you sit running an adjacent pdrop or plock script. Not my idea of a fun game. each to thier own bro i think anything over 2k turns might as well be unlimited turns and then its just a matter of who has the most time at keys...To me there is such an abundance of turns there is no reason for strategy...stragey involving who does what with how many turns and when....i just dont want to spen all day at keys with an endless amount of turns. Also this idea that Turtling is a bad thing is mostly from you high turn unlimited guys Yo me is the wrong attitude..A stock game With Default planets and 1k turns takes at fairly long time to build level6 h class planets.,,,And to me..The game doesnt even get started till that happens..lol 'bout as much fun as watching grass grow.

I thought turtle games were banned by the geneva convention...
