I would have thought that with performing reds, it would not be difficult to get to a well hidden L2L in 7 days in a 5K stock game, and couple backups by day 8.

But hey, what do I know about such, I bow to Baited's and Singularity's game lore.

Truces should be a matter between players/corps if they so decide, not sysop mandated. Sysop imposed truce rules in Unlim games? Who cares, it is not tradewars, rather, scriptwars.

In a 1000 turn game with 5k sectors, 3 man corps, 2 good reds, 1 blue with enough determination could very easily ether probe and explore scan an entire 5k universe in two days or less. If there are other corps interfering by doing mad, mad gridding, it might stretch to 4-5 days. It just depends on a corps priorities, playing style, and whether or not traders end up getting SD by another player before they played their turns for the day.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a highly competetive game and a 10k universe would give people the best chance of not being found. A 5k universe is way too easily and quickly explored.

LOL it was funny how killian stated what she wanted then claimed it was looking like others wanted it..

killy... 1k-2.5k is too many turns,   10k-20k is too big of universe, and whoever said that the people who use scripts should stick to the unilms and the turns players play without them... ummm.. laff...   you dont think turns players use scripts?

otherwise sounds like a great idea

the one thing i do definatly agree is cit times.. The best games have come when people cant hide under mobiles right away... about 6-9 days is a good time for the first mobile IMO...

k, forgot. The game edits - no aliens and if a server has to have a truce, no more than 1 day, although no truce would be best.

This post is NOT pointed at you Prom, but it hit my soft spot.  Truce in a low turn game?  My opinion is WHY?  If you can't stay alive for 1 to 3 days in a low turn game, you better go practice in a game that has very few players or just one, YOU.  Aliens suck except for noobs that can't kill anything else and have to boost thier ego.  Oh.  The reason it's hard to find turn games with any competion, is because they last so long and when one comes up, usually only 2 or 3 players get in it and then rule the game.  Baited is right, the turn players need to band together to all get into a turn game when it starts.  Sysops need to limit turn games and post well in advance of rebangs to let the turn players have a chance to get together.  Have 4 or 5 turn games on a server is crazy. You'll have 3 players in each game and no one to play against.
By the way, many server have too many unlimited game too, so not just picking on turn games.

There is a strategy to oppose the 3 day eprobe/explore one.

As to UTW? I played one game there a few months ago to see what all the crap that has been thrown at it might be about. Seemed fine to me. Spoke with the sysop a few times on fed and icq while playing, cordial conversations. Don't know why some people are trying to take it down.

Kav, I don't think anyone is trying to bring the server down.  He just started having way too many unlimited truce games.  From what I hear, he's fading those out now.  That would be a smart move considering that in truce games rules are almost impossible to enforce.  Then when rules get broken, everyone gets pissed and takes it out on the server.  There is ONLY ONE REASON for a truce in a low turn game.  This is if the game has been posted as NOOBS ONLY.  heh

D,

You were away for a few years and havent read all the crap that Rexx has thrown at UTW. I eventually went there to play out of curiousity. Might have bad edits, dunno, game I played was fine. Large playerbase. We dont need to lose players, so why ostracize UTW is my thought.

So still nobody has suggested what edits we should play. Like I said, I'm not too familiar with many of them. Does anyone have any ideas as to which ones might be fun for a game like this?

When I talk low turn games I thinking more on the lime of 700-1000 turns and I prefer a 5k to 10k universe. 20k seems way to big if you only have 10-15 players.  As far as edits go a lot of the ones that low trun games are playing is moo2 pirates etc and those are just colo war games and mostly all blue games or you should be.
I would like to play a little more balanced game where you had to have a few reds and could rotate between mbbs and non mbbs.
Truce games have no real place in low turn games.  I don't mind an agreement to let a corp start if it has some noobs playing.  Keep the corp size down 3 or so. I would rather have more corps in game then haeing just two bigger ones.
Just my two cents
River Rat

You have 2 cents?  You are making way too much money running that server.   ROFLMFAO

Celtic Goddess:

Suggest Stock 5k, 1K turns, 6 hour time limit, 3 per corp, MBBS, 1 second photon. 2 second photon ok, 3 day turn bank ok.

Yes, there is. But I've seen a few of the people who are interested in playing this in action in 5k sector universes, and believe me, having a 10k sector universe will give newer and less experienced players in the game the chance to actually do something with less of a chance of being found on day 4 or day 5. I know a few of us have been playing a 5k solo man corp game, and even as solo teams, the games are only lasting about 12-14 days.

I dunno about you, but I think it would be cool if this game could last at least a little bit longer than that.

Anyone besides Kavanaugh and Stockton objecting to a 10k universe? Its best we get all this stuff out now before the game is banged.

Well, I'm like you, I didn't see a problem with the server at all except I don't care for truce games, truce games are mainly for new players and they are good for just that.  If his purpose is to attract new playerrs, that is very good.  Just don't expect the experience players to go there.  I don't get a kick out of killing noobs.  I think he is starting to divid the game up now, running some truce games and some not.  That may start to attract both types of players.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not downgrading the server, just pointing out the fact that many vets won't player there because of all the truce games.

im fine with 10k.. as a maximum.. some 5k games can be fun also..   but I don't like time limits..

we are all after the same goal.. competitive fun turns games.. just need to get together on some stuff

Since everyone is throwing around their fav edits..

mine are 850 turns, 7k-10k universe, mbbs, no time limit or ship delay, quickest mobile day 5-9.   I can usually live with any ships as long as you got your gridder, casher, killer, etc..

Let me add, that if there are several competitive corps NOONE should be able to eprobe the universe..

Not that i think 5k is the way to go.. seems a bit small for most games, but every once in awhile would be fun for a change..
