 Re: Idea for a game
Big D wrote: There isn't a lot of difference between v1 and v2 IF the settings are right. There are a few bugs in v2, but nothing that would hinder the outcome of a game I don't believe. Then again I haven't played v2 enough yet to say that for sure. 1500 to 2k turns is perfect. Stock is fine and I agree with shortening the cit times by half or even 1/3rd. The edit wouldn't have to be released if it's close to stock. Personally I think 10k sectors makes a better game if there are more than 10 players in the game. Otherwise I'll find the opposition very quickly and the game will be very short. These are just my suggestions and take them for what they are worth. Now, what really would be a hoot is if you, KB and myself all ended up on the same team in this lottery game. LOL

 Re: Idea for a game
I would also suggest that two things be avoided if this is to be held on a v2 server. Do NOT use the "time limit" restriction and use the "non-MBBS" setting or turn off mega-rob. There are two major bugs in those areas that I know of.

I elaborated when JP was talking about fizing bugs on v1. That was before v1 became v2. That didn't really help our cause. So no, I won't elaborate again. Now back to the original subject.

I refuse to teach a player how to play a high turn game. Anything more than 3k sectors is too many turns in my book.
Hmm, I draw the line at 5K sectors, thats all TWASSIST can handle - why 3K?

Hmm, I draw the line at 5K sectors, thats all TWASSIST can handle - why 3K? Well, 5k sectors, 3k turns. With a 5 man corp I'll have every dead end and 2 way explored in 2 days or less, so if I were you I wouldn't be planning on building any planets in a game like that. Also CIM hunter is a very powerfull tool, so gridding out a new cashing area might be a bit dangerous and could severely hinder your cashing ability. It would be the same danger for everyone, but not many players with the exception of Sing or Parrothead are as good at datamining as I am. Edit: I see what you were pointing at now. What I meant was I draw the line at 3k turns in a tournament. Not sectors. The original post was fixed.

I refuse to teach a player how to play a high turn game. Anything more than 3k turns is too many turns in my book. If they want to play a high turn game, then I'm not the person to be teaching them. Maybe you should recruit Zarkahn or Prom for that.
..........
Except that I no longer play the game as I pretty much quit with V2 coming out. COD BOPs 2 on the PS3 is about all I do now, and even it is getting boring. I wish TW had 1/10th (or even 1/100th) of the players as COD. I agree with you that in teaching a lower turn game makes a person pay attention to what they are doing and what they are trying to accomplish a lot more. High turn/unlims are weekend (sometimes a few hours) games, and best as private server games setup for safety to learn commands. If you learn efficiency in low-turn, it will translate (most of the time) into a better high-turn game. The idea for the game sounds good, and I hope you get some participation - keep the game alive. Hope everyone is doing well, take care. Prom

I doubt very much that there are enough players left to have a tournament anymore. Good luck with future endeavors.

There is a requirement to have one or more V2 games under your belt in order to play earlier versions? What planet am I on.

They'll never make it past v2 before they get bored and quit. It looks like the idea for this game is quickly going downhill also. Not many takers it seems.

I thought we were done with the v1 vs v2 debates, or those were to be kept in Hyperspace forum. If you'd like to continue discussing that topic with me, give me access again. Otherwise.... This thread is about a lethal lottery game. Please get back on topic.
