I suppose that would depend on the level of sophistication of your router.

I wouldn't think a Linksys would be that sophisticated :)

LOL. You'd be right in most cases. I have the Wireless G version, and I've been thinking about putting DD-WRT on it.
I have one of those modded ones here at work for out other building. They are pretty fantastic at what they do.

I put that DD-WRT on mine and I love it.

If done properly, it will kill internet connectivity to the PC hosting TWGS.
Anyone who was on when the time is up will be disconnected.
The router itself will stop serving packets to or from the internet to that PC.

Then how would you selectively shut down a single game while leaving the others up?

I could setup a virtual machine and take it down on a schedule, assign that NAT ip an external port, and end up with 2 servers... one that we keep up, and one that goes down on a schedule. And for just 2 permutations (1 game that goes down, the rest that stay up), that's perfectly feasible. But what if you have 10 games, 4 of which are on odd schedules and 6 that stay up all the time? How would you do that?

Using the router, a firewall, a VM, whatever, it works... but it scales poorly. That's why having an option in TWGS is optimal, it scales better and is easier to setup.

Question?
If you run a VM copy with TWGS and one that isn't won't you need 2 licenses since technically your running 2 servers?

Why not just use the new scheduling feature in TWGS 2.08?

t0yman, the only restriction is that you only run one public game per license.

Well, let me modify that a bit. Not all games are public. There should be one game that's for active playing. You're free to run seperate instances for building and testing games, whatever.

Nod, which is kind of where I was going with that. :)

Well, crap. I fail at reading comprehension. I was assuming he wanted his TWGS only accessible on the weekend, and not just one game on the TWGS. My method would only work for the whole TWGS, not for a single game. :P
