 Re: Oh how I wish...
TradeWars got started for less than a thousand dollars. We can already say that. But what's it going to cost to get to the next level? At some point, it just takes investment. We're at that point. I've been at this since 1998. In 2000, the game was being developed and was picked up by NCsoft before being shut down so that all of its assets could be rolled into Tabula Rasa. In 2007, I signed an unfortunate contract to create a small, grass-roots graphical version with that company in Canada, but they pushed me aside to make "their own game". I think the one thing that I can really point to that says this game will be a success is the fact that I haven't and won't give up.
I wish I could present even a little of the work I've done on a new game over the years, but unfortunately I can't. But I have 20 years in this game and I will keep pushing it until it breaks through.

Yes, those darn Canadians, eh?
Well if you ever need a modeler/texture artist, you know where to reach me or my wife.

I don't like to blame all Canadians for the actions of a few. Just French Canadians ;)

 Re: Oh how I wish...
LOL, just kicking ideas aroung, but your right Micro 15 years ago with thousands of active users that may have brought in a large amount of cash...
How much work would it take to port just a basic version of TradeWars into Facebook? I know that companies right now are making a ton of money by doing this. Like a specific edit just for Facebook with the addition of some type of in game ship or planet that can only be purchased? I know the in Mobsters I spent WAY to much time doin missions for respect, and even going as far as to do "free" things for missions. If there was any intrest I already have a plan to make any game make money... tap the 500 million plus users? Just thinking of ways to keep TradeWars growing as a whole, while making money to invest in a new version...
The only thing impossible is what you think is impossible...

 Re: Oh how I wish...
It doesn't seem like it would be that hard if you stuck to a 2D model. You could render Ships, PLanets, etc... in 3D, and then use the 2D renderings in the game.

heh just a cheesy thought, but really, I would buy something!! I designed a graphic for a Coffee Mug, with permission of course. Never went through with it.. wasn't happy with the design. Besides.. selling the Mugs would violate soo many copyrights, associated with the avatars, I'd probably spend the rest of my life behind bars. I still want my Tradewars coffee mug damit!

The only thing impossible is what you think is impossible... I know, even in this down economy when people have nothing better to do than waste their time playing facebook games, they STILL spend real money on virtual game items. I think I talked to JP about this a year ago. Forget finding investors, let's do this to raise the cash for the project you really want to do.

I would order one of the mugs and I don't even drink coffee.
