Here's what I don't understand, and I hope someone can explain it to me. (since none of you will know the name, hadnt played TW since the early 1990s, came back recently, bought twgs so that me and a few friends could play on a private server, etc.. etc...)

From what I've been able to determine from reading past posts, the person that owns tw2002/twgs (i realize he still owns it, as thats who i "made the check" out to) disappeared from these forums and all support other than selling of twgs for a longer than short period of time. While he was busy making money via other ventures, Vulcan offered to run this message board for him.

While he was gone, he apparently told Vulcan and whatever other mods were here that SG had to be a part of the venture (psych 101 sidebar - spaceghost comes off as an immature, insecure mental midget, and it seems he is in need of constant validation), despite the fact that the mods running the site didnt like him.

My question(s):

1. If you're so concerned with the image of TW/twgs, why take a hiatus. You're obviously stating the priorty level of the game if you're off doing other projects and only taking care of twgs (which people still pay for, despite the fact that the coding is 20 years old, so you should, ya know, still give them some sort of support, or give it away for free like most other 20 year old games).

2. Why saddle the people trying to help you, free of charge, with someone so insecure and high maintenance that it makes things hard to carry on (from what I can tell).
Why not just leave it with him instead?

3. Why was such a big fuss made recently; the page is still slower than a dead cat in the 40 yard dash, no updates have been made, etc... its obvious that you havent come to take your baby back (baby back, ribs..) so why was a stink made all of a sudden?

4. Why carry on an official message board like a high school? If you're trying to be professional, the whole thing should be professionally done. You shouldnt be displaying people that represent you (whether you pay them or not, the moderators for the forums of the man who owns twgs still represent you) in this no rules, no guidelines, immature manner.


This whole thing really smacks of insecurity, bruised egos, and non-professionalism.

(And while this may sound like a pro-Vulcan post, its not. I'm not registered there, and you can check my IP, im not someone's alt posting account And fwiw, his group was obviously not perfect throughout all of this.)

kaedin you hit a lot of valid points although the code is based on a game 20 years ago, it has been developed since then.  I think the last actual update was maybe 3 years ago - time goes fast so I could easily be wrong. 
The most important part of your post deals with professionalism and that has been sadly lacking, not only from the admins/mods but from the users as well.  Several issues blew up this year that splintered the Tradewars group including the Sylien debacle and we have also lost a lot of oldtime "elite" class players to other games such as WoW.  When we lost Kemper3 we lost a lot in regard to the way things were handled.  K3 was respected as a player and that goes a long way in an anonymous world such as this.
I have only been involved in the forums for about 4 years and it appears we have hit a low point.  I am hoping that JP does address the site issues regarding performance and I think Earth is also working that - not sure as I am on the outside looking in just as you are. 
SG may have some issues, but then we all do in some form or another.  Egos and lack of trust I think were the main issues in how things evolved to where they are now.  I am guessing.
