I was playing on this board with a couple other players (an old game, I didn't want to commit to an intense game when I was going to be leaving on vacation)... we were asked by the sysop EVER so politely to leave the game as they didn't want players as "highly skilled" as us to intimidate those "old rusty" players who were trying to relearn their twars skills... Vader I understand that. I had no problem leaving the server. My problem was the way I was spoken to. I am also from the old bbs days of the game and considered somewhat rusty since I left for almost 2 years and just recently returned. Had he asked nicely I would have had no problem with them at all. I was not rude from the begining when he asked about killing the newbie I explained we warned him several times to leave this particular sector alone. He did not listen so we poped him. Now again if they had a problem with that then all would have been well to just explain the problem and except my appolagy for it. I was only on the board cause someone asked to to join them there. I would have had no problem leaving and did not have a problem with it when I did. My problem is the attitude he took and then to threaten to change all corp assets to rougue and change our passwords to "prove a point". That is what was said to me by him. Then he continued to be a jack Butt over fedcom even after I said the corp I was on would by the guy a new ship and give him a level 6 planet to make everything right. I am glad they want a server for themselves and older type players I have no problem with that. My problem is no one should threaten to turn everything rougue and change passwords. I could have been threatned with banning that is fine. But then to say the rules state that newbies aren't allowed to be killed is bull when I looked into it. So, again was I supposta be psychic and know this unpublished rule?

OK here is the deal. I play on this server and we are currently at war with Corp 2 and corp 6. Is gualala the Sysop? I dunno, be he does have an attitude, and the reason we are at war with corp 2 and 6 is because we started taking people out. They didn't like that and ganged up on us. Casper, did Gualala really say he would reset your passwords? Gualala is a Jerk, but i didn't know he had access to do that... kinda makes me wonder... I say screw them and come play anyway.. their is NO rule against killing newbies, read the rules... Either Gualala was just Talking BS and scared you off, or he is the Sysop. As far as i know the only rules are that your not allowed to setup stardock blockaids...

Yes, this is going to be a LONG game. I doubt Gualala is a cheater, his Exp is comming from Mass robs, my corpie shazam was doing the same thing and was just behind him until he had a few "accidents" while playing drunk, i dunno...

I say everyone just get on ICE9, play and start causing havoc...lol, but still follow the rules... this server is NOT for newbies only.

Our corp took out a quite a few bases, without getting *****ed out, however, after doing that, Gualala and "Friends" decided to invade us. Thats ok though, we're not that easy to take out.

Casper, Gualala is not the Sysop. He doesn't have the power to do anything to you, short of tell the sysop on you.

This game is more geared for allowing newbies to build up a little. If someone's only been online for a few days and doesn't have a base built yet, then generally people will leave the guy alone... thats all. I dunno what else to say, the rules are not stated clearly on the site. If you want to play a game where you can get in, start a base and not worry about getting invaded in the first day, then this game is for you. If you like to get on, blockaide stardock, kill every new player who gets on and basically rule the game within a week.... this server is not for you.

From start i relized it was a noob training ground. so i acted
accordingly, not only did I NOT get herased, and even killed a couple of players, I chated on fed comm, and had a good time. edits did suck, and got to know players, and just TRY to have a good time.
but the funny thing was this Ghulala guy never botherd me, and to my suprise he droped 500K in my Galtic Bank Account? Casper will verify
I was there. So i guess at that server Good Karma begets Good Karma.

Casper, you wouldn't have wanted to play in the game anyway. Your corp was caught cheating. Bug use WAS listed in the rules. Besides you totally distorting the facts, the truth is you were specifically asked not to leave, just to leave new players coming into the game alone. Despite the bug use your corp still was unable to win. They did however ruin the game for the rest of the honest players. Shame on Mantis and Havocat for cheating (and Willy Wonka and Scorpion if they are members here also). There are 3 games on this board. 2 are for new and returning players. If you can't understand what that means, I'm sorry. There is 1 other game for everyone. Anything goes in that one. However, you guys don't seem interested in playing in that one. I wonder why? For the record. I am NOT the sysop. I have no editing powers. I did not say anything to Casper except that if they continued to run new players out of the game the sysop would change their passwords. I wish I could run out everyone I didn't like so simply. The Sysop has now better explained what type of game each game is so even complicated people can figure it out. No one at ice9 is really interested in some flame war over a newbie game. We are sorry if Ice9 is not for you, but there seems to be an ample number of places for the cut-throat player to play. Hats off to Vader for understanding.

Yes, ICE9 is a board for newbies. If your not a newbie, trust me, you won't like Playing. Gualala likes to "Dictate" the game, and make up rules as he goes along (While stating that he's not the sysop). Gualala blames me for ruining the game, why? For playing TradeWARS instead of TradeHUGS. ICE9 has a "Friendly" environment where no one likes to invade or kill eachother. Everyone just kinda fly's around waving to eachother, builds up and then the game ends with NO winners because everyone hids in their hole.

Gualala does not like Gridding, so if you grid, expect a rude attitude from him. Gualala does not like ANY experianced players to play on his board because he might actually lose a game. Oh and one more thing, MEGACORPING is allowed and ENDORSED by Gualala.

Frankly Gualala is a breed of player that never learned how to play TW against other good players. He runs or hangs out on a board where his skillz allow him to win the game because everyone is a newbie, and the experianced players are told to leave or follow the rules he makes up day by day. PITIFUL Gualala... shame on you.

I WAS a newbie when i started the game because i haven't played in over 5 years... but once i got the hang of the game and started doing good and actually INVADING other players sectors, Gualala revealed his MEGACORPING ways and trashed my sector. So if your a newbie and you play on this board and actually learn how to play, your denied the chance to try to WIN the game... Its kinda MESSED up, but if you were a newbie, you wouldn't find out until later in the game.

My recommendation is to STAY AWAY from this board. Or if your a newbie, play until you get the hang of it and then go somewhere else. Your only going to learn so much on this board. Go to another board if you want to learn how to make war.


By the way Gualala, if your worried about bugs tell the sysop to update his TW version, its kinda old.

Havocatl, You should try to stick to facts and leave fantasies for sleepy time. I won't respond to your version of events. There are plenty of us still here who know what really happened. Our "mega-corp" consisted of 3 players who joined into one corp, yours consisted of 6 players who stayed two corps. Sysop said he upgraded to the latest version when he had problems with his board 3 months ago. Using bugs on an older version is still using bugs. Getting caught using a bug is still getting caught. As was pointed out in my previos post, this was only one of the games on this board. There is a game edited by Vader where there are no rules. (except dupes and bugs) Perhaps you could have played there when you outgrew the newbie game? We are all glad here at ice9 that you found us on your return to the game. We are happy to have provided you the environment to re-learn the game while not geting killed the first time you tried to buy a ship at star dock. However, we are estactic that you have now re-learned TradeWars and are ready to move on. Good Luck in your new ventures. In addition to the others who have posted here, I also recommend to members here on this forum not come to ice9 to play. Unless you like building games and teaching new people. Our goal at ice9 is to increase the number of people playing TradeWars by bringing old players back to the game and getting new players interested in the game. Nice response Gualala. If I remember right your Origional MEGACORP consisted of 5 people and two corps, your story sounds like a Michael Moore film, with facts left out, and no previous history explained. I won't go into anymore details because i'm sure everyone here could care less. We only megacorped AFTER you did.

Next time do people a favor and explain to them that the game is a Newbie Training ground, and the game is NOT meant to be won. That way people won't spend all the time TRYING to win. I think the BIGGEST issue i have with the server is that you say your NOT the sysop, yet you "DICTATE" rules that are NOT displayed on the server.

For Future reference, maybe you should have a title called "Referee Gualala" that way people know who you are, instead of trying to play yourself off as a regular player, and then later in the game trying to DEFINE rules to back up the sloppy basic rules that are posted.

All in all i think it comes down to management, if you were a manager for Donald Trump, you would have been FIRED.
