oh, ill add this: go to an enemy fig with 100 fighters and 100 shields. retreat from the fighter. you lose 1 fighter and zero shields. now go there with zero fighters and 100 shields. retreat. you just lost 5 shields. how is that cheaper? how is that greater defense? (its the same defense, just the way retreating off figs work)

On a ship, shields and figs get the same odds. On a planet, 10 shields off of your ship get worse odds than 10 figs off of your ship.

All I know is this, it's very rare to see the prices of shields lower than figs. Slim, you are correct, the defensive capability of shields depends on the ship, but I've noticed that if a quasar does 1500 damage to my ship, and I have 1500 shields, I can walk away with shields left on my ship, but if I have zero shields and 1500 fighters, and the quasar does 1500 damage to my ship all 1500 figs get wiped out!

You have to remember, when you are being blasted by Quasars, your ship's defensive odds have NOTHING to do with the amount of damage your receive. Go check it out, you'll find out I'm right!

Shield prices are almost always lower than fig prices.

Please run a test and paste me the results supporting your claim. I have never observed it and think you likely are just mistaken on this point.

the prices run on a sine curve and im sure many people could tell you the exact formula, i checked ck's site and the cabal, but couldnt find it, i know its here on EIS i think it was CK who posted it. when i talk to him next ill get that info out of him as well.

also, i am going to open a game and set it up so i get hit with a Q cannon and ill do it once with figs and once with shields and will post the results here (v3.12)
