I first played in 1992. The reason I know this is that I had a BBS running TW 2002 as a doorway game and still have the original letter from the Martins with my registration code. I just came across it the other day by accident! But then I layed off the game for 8 years, and the internet changed the world, and here were are!

Well here goes i started playing in 93 on a BBS that was a friend of mine you got 500 turns which back then seemed like alot. I played on a played on an Ibm 386 which was fast for the time but slow.I used a 2400bps modem and was actually quite good for standard back then but as we all know it was a different game then and is now. I started back up Less than a year ago and the rest is alot of getting my ***
kicked for a while and then starting to get the hang of things and finally winning a few and now i am doing alright in the community and can hold my own in most game situations...lol

I started back in 93 or 94 playing on a few local BBS systems using a 386 with a 2400 baud modem, Q-modem, and I think the helper I used back then was twhelp. A long lost friend that I was living with at the time had got me into the game we eventually got booted off all the BBS systems for duping because we would log on right after each other and we were in the same corp.

Around November 2003 I was goofing off one day at work and I googled tradewars 2002 found a server located in England that was running an unlimited game with a time limit, found and download SWATH, stumbled on to http://www.tw-cabal.com so far I have been playing off and on for the past 6 months and have had my Butt handed to me few times but it was the games me and my corp. members managed to win that keeps me coming back.

I can honestly say if it wasn’t for finding SWATH, http://www.tw-cabal.com web site, meeting up with the person I currently corp. with, and the availability of public TWX scripts I probably would not be playing right now.

OK now I'll tell my Twars story since you all seem to love my "long posts"

I met Raven at the mall in 1992. He was running a local BBS. I had a brand new "Brother" word processor that allowed you to log on with a modem to compuserve at 300 baud. I was stoked. He showed me how to log on to his BBS. I wandered around trying various games, then stumbled into Twars. I was the only one there. I flew around a bit, thinking that the Haggle was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, when bam a Ferrengi killed me.

So I flew around in my pod for about 3 months, trading my one hold.

I read the docs, but it overwhelmed me, I couldn't believe all there was to this game, but what was this "Stardock" thing? And darnit I need a ship.

After about 3 months, Raven called me into chat and asked me what I was doing. I said "playing tradewars." He said "is that what you call it?" He came in the game and started teaching me.

A month later I considered myself a "master" heh.

I found another local bulletin board that ran world group, and in my free trial membership I discovered the world of MBBS! There were about 20 players there and I too was amazed at multi node. That was Galactic Overlord's site.

I then branched out to BBS.Paul.Com, but it disappeared. I then went to Silver Wings and met Big D, and several other really great players, then they turned me onto Northern Lights, where Avatar taught me evil the right way. Then on to Miller's Party Board, where Dr. Bob taught me a new meaning of the words "invasion tactics."

Then, one of my good friends, Mel, started Twars.com and was Beta Testing a whole new version called "Gold," that ran on a TWGS server.
Up until about a year ago I did not use helpers, I was "against them." Heh!

I won't go into the boring rest of the story.
