First off the first amendment applies when u speak and in a few other instances, not too digital txt that is sent or stored on/over someone elses machine visable too other people.
When a sysop pays for a twgs and pays for the access to let players use there software, (and sets up the sceneiros to play under) , u have no rights when u log to that system. u do however have a choice, to play there or not too play there. if u dont like it then go someplace else. but to whine about the sysops choice on how he wants things done on his server is pure stupidity.
Once again, I can agree to a degree. What happens when the players that he is tryout to protect, are the ones breaking the rules?
I toured an elementry school a few years back as part of a demonstration on native american lifestyles and history, for the school system of Kalamazoo Public- Inluding parchment and portage elementry schools (2 of the best schools in the district)
The language I heard would be appauling to most fair hearted people. Fortunally for us, we no longer live in a "censored" state. If a character on a tv show can call someone else a b|tch, or a jacka$$, without havine a bleep, then what the puck is the issue?
In words of one of my favorite characters..
"I'm bart simpson, who the hell are you?"

Cussing is just about everwhere now. Just look at Cable TV, Satelite TV, even the Network TV shows have it. Not saying it is right, but yes I have heard kids cuss too. Been to a McDonald's or other fast food place to take my 5 year old to, and some of the older kids were cussing. You cannot isolate everything, so you just teach them not to use that sort of language. What am I supposed to do, keep my son at home all day? Everywhere we go has someone cussing, and at times it is other children.
Like Grazhoppa says it is at the schools too. I remember back when I went to Elemertary School some 25-30 years ago we had other kids cuss up a storm. Calling the rest of us names for not acting like them, not being "Cool" like them. Sadly teachers did nothing about it, and most of it led to bullying from the kids who cussed. So it has sort of always been there, just nobody talked about it until now.

Yes I admit it, I am old.
I remember playing Tradewars on local BBSes way back when Commodore 64 and VicModems where state of the art technology. Ah yes, the 300 baud VicModem, had to dial the number by hand, take the phone jack out of the receiver and plug it into the VicModem before the Carrier Tone went away. Had the Original Chris Sherrick Tradewars back then, written in BASIC. Everyone had the same ship, no Stardock, no Aliens, no ANSI, only 100 turns if you were lucky (Some SYSOPS used 65 turns a day!), and only 1000 sectors. Took all day to run the Bigbang program, no such things as Bubbles back then. No such thing as Robbing a port either, or planet trading. Just Pair Port Trading, by hand. We liked it that way because we didn't know any better.
So I am Tradewars Oldschool, learned from playing the BBS version before TW2002 was developed. Learned TW2002 later, quit playing when it got to 1.03D and recently got back into the game. So my knowledge is a bit outdated and I am learning new stuff as I get adjusted to TWGS.
I used to rule the BBS games, would get on right after the Extern when the ports refreshed. Had Corp Members who actually played each day and made the most of 100 turns a day. Never ran a script, but used external DOS based TW Helpers to take CIM info to Map out sectors, find paired ports, etc. Had to actually screen capture the CIM info into a text file and feed it into the TW Helper. Had to do the ALT-200 etc codes to get into CIM back then.
Oh yeah, back then, no cussing was allowed. If the SYSOP caught anyone cussing (had the screen on during play) they would be banned from the game for a day or two. We had a local college BBS host the Tradewars game, had teenagers and pre-teens playing it too as well as college students. Too bad back then all we had was one phone line BBSes, no multi-user playing.

Cabal, and then it was the Romulans. Nothing compared to the Gold Aliens we face now.

Psh, I fear the cabal, and the old ferrengi, the ones that would take your holds and destroy your fighters if you didn't give them what you had onboard.

Oh please, I remember the old Ferrengi. If you didn't give them cargo they would attack you, if you attacked them one of them would go on a bloodhunt after you.
I liked their dialogs:
"We will destroy you, eater of grubs!"
"I'll eat your brains monkeyman!"
I used to trick them into dropping their figs in sectors and then turn around and destroy them. Just lay 1 fig per sector on a route, find a Ferrengi and tag him for 1 fig. Use lots of sheilds and dump my figs in a sector near the end of the 1 Fig sectors. He follows you through the sectors, destroying each Fig and leaving 50 to 150 figs in place of them. He would attack for 0 to 15 damage because I had no Figs on me, and eat at my shields. Until finally he only has a few figs left, and I just attack him with all I got from the other sector. Then I collect the bounty on him, buy more Figs, and clean up the sectors of Ferrengi Figs for more bounty credits. Or I could be a total jerk and leave the Ferrengi Figs there for the Noobs to bang their heads into.

Oh the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the Hit Parade....
I think the Internal Ferrengi sort of emulate their ancesters, I recall one TWGS game an Internal Ferrengi asked me to surrender my holds to him. Of course I popped him one. I was in an ISS and he was in an Assault Cruiser. Stupid Ferrengi, when will they learn you can't extort cargo out of someone with more Figs than you got?

I remeber those days too. I did once or twice run into the ferrengi WarLord. Oh i wished I was strong enough back then, I would of took his ship, what a ship it would have been for back then. I heard that you had to have a dreadnought to take his Scorpian then his scorp to take on Capt Z and kill him. With the help of a corp IG also.

Ferrengi Overlord, and it was in the MBBS version of the game after 90 days of game play. Even with a Scorpion you can't kill Capt Z.
